About the Item
In 1991, Robert Lee Morris collaborated with Donna Karan on her Fall collection and this concave collar was one of the key signature elements shown with the clothes. This was a futuristic looking collection and the very pure and simple sweeping lines of the jewelry and belts, all matte gold plated brass, helped create a sensational collection. The concave collar was first designed in the very late 1970's and throughout the years Robert developed the Concave Collection as one of his most signature. The thick edge on each piece gave a strong backbone of support for the sheet metal as it was bent into a curve, thus causing the metal to sink inwards in a perfect concave shape. This simple collar, which is open in the back and slips onto the neck very easily, is somewhat flexible so the wearer can squeeze it closed just enough to stay on all day. In the DK show, models often wore two of these collars stacked, and that enhanced the futuristic, telescoping, industrial feel that was needed. The luscious buttery gold is semi shiny, toned down, and looks every bit like pure gold.
