About the Item

This late Edwardian to early Art Deco necklace is crafted in 18k gold and platinum and set with Old European cut diamonds. The necklace features a striking two-part design. The upper section consists of flat gold and platinum links, accented with tiny tubes. The lower part transitions into platinum set diamonds arranged in a symmetrical draped motif. Two curved diamond-set strands meet at the center, continuing in a vertical drop with a larger round diamond. Highly elegant yet not ornate, this diamond necklace reflects the transition from Edwardian delicacy to Art Deco structure, making it a refined example of early 20th-century design. This antique necklace is made of platinum, 18 karat yellow gold and Old European diamonds. The diamond total weight approximately 7.50 carats (largest diamonds are 0.95-ct, 0.40-ct, 0.25-ct). The necklace measures 15" (38 cm) long, the center drop part measures 1 ¾” (4.4 cm) long. The Edwardian necklace weighs 24.3 grams. About Edwardian Jewelry: Edwardian era jewelry, created between 1901 and 1915 during the reign of King Edward VII of England, is celebrated for its light, elegant, and intricate designs. This period marked a transition from the heavier Victorian styles to more delicate and sophisticated jewelry, reflecting the refinement of the Edwardian court. Jewelers during this time favored platinum for its strength and ability to hold complex filigree work, resulting in airy, lace-like designs often adorned with diamonds and pearls. Motifs such as bows, garlands, laurel wreaths, and floral patterns were incredibly popular, showcasing a combination of classical influence and modern elegance. Edwardian jewelry represents a high point in craftsmanship, with each piece meticulously handmade to achieve the luxurious and graceful look synonymous with the era. Today, Edwardian jewelry remains highly desirable among collectors and fashion enthusiasts due to its unmatched craftsmanship and timeless style. Each piece is unique, reflecting the artistry of master jewelers who crafted every detail by hand. The exquisite filigree work, use of high-quality materials, and romantic motifs make Edwardian jewelry not only a beautiful accessory but also a wearable piece of history. People love Edwardian pieces for their versatility and elegance, easily pairing with both vintage and contemporary outfits. Investing in Edwardian jewelry means owning a rare, stylish, and historically significant piece that continues to captivate jewelry lovers around the world.
