The Lapis Lazuli chain is detachable so the cameo can be worn as a brooch if desired. The pendant has an extraordinary hand carved cameo image of a neoclassical goddess maiden in Lapis Lazuli. Carving of cameos in hardstone such as Lapis is exceedingly difficult and requires the skills of an extraordinary artisan. The face of the woman is serene and beautiful. The carving is very deep and of museum quality with extraordinary details in the face and hair of the woman. This is one of the finest hard stone cameos we have seen.
