Mid-Century Pearl Citrine Quartz Earrings Necklace Demi-Parure Set Portuguese

About the Item

An exquisite Mid-Century citrine and pearl necklace and earrings demi-parure, crafted in silver and gold, and housed in a fitted presentation case. Designed in the 18th-century Georgian style by Portuguese goldsmith Américo Tavares Ferreira, this set beautifully reflects historical elegance with a modern execution. The necklace comprises 16 oval clusters, each featuring a golden citrine quartz encircled by a halo of luminous half-pearls, culminating in a pear-shaped drop cluster at the center. The earrings mirror this design, each set with an oval citrine framed by a pearl halo, enhancing their timeless appeal. Historical Context: This demi-parure embodies the revival of 18th-century jewelry aesthetics during the mid-20th century, a period when European jewelers reinterpreted Georgian and Victorian influences. The Portuguese goldsmithing tradition, particularly in Lisbon, has long been celebrated for its craftsmanship, with artisans like Américo Tavares Ferreira preserving historical motifs through exceptional workmanship. Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Alfredo Moreno Mendiguren and Raquel Sanches da Gama de Moreno.
