19th Century Antique Heart Shape Diamond Pendant
About the Item
made in Vienna, Austro-Hungarian Empire, circa 1870s (after 1872)
This very fine Victorian era heart shape locket pendant is crafted in 14K gold and silver. The front is encrusted with chunky old brilliant cut and old rose cut diamonds. The back cover is set with a glazed miniature picture frame.
Marked on the ring with fox head assay mark and maker’s initials. The diamond-set bail is struck with ‘A’ for Vienna.
Estimated total diamond weight is 2 carats.
The diamond heart measures (without the bail) 22 x 19 mm (7/8 x 3/4 in.)
Total length with the bail is 36 mm (1 3/8 in.)
