About the Item
We found the perfect cap for this adorably dimpled baroque south sea pearl: the top of a vintage articulated clown pendant!
We had this pendant for a while, but it's frankly sort of creepy, and the world doesn't need any more creepy articulated clown pendants at the moment. What the world needs is more pearls -- specifically, more big baroque South Sea pearls!
Taking a principled stand for both creepy clown population control AND big, glorious pearls, Eytan Brandes ruthlessly tore Mr. Clown apart and created TWO distinctive pendants -- one from Mr. Clown's head and collar ruff (presented here) and the other from Mr. Clown's bejeweled duncecap-shaped torso (sold to our favorite person in Chicago). Mr. Clown's head now tops a 10.5mm baroque South Sea pearl, slightly elongated, with an adorable dimple on the bottom. It has good luster and rich white color shot with pink and blue. It also has some natural surface flaws, the most visible of which is a slightly sooty lesion near the top. Since the pendant has a very obvious front and back, Eytan mounted the pearl with this flaw facing backward. Also visible to the naked eye is a stillborn ridgeline around the pearl's middle. This ridgeline gets a little more pronounced on one side, but happily it's not near the center front.
The 14 karat gold Italian cable chain, shown in the photos, is included. If you don't need the chain, just let us know and we'll provide you with an adjusted price.

This necklace features one of Eytan Brandes' signature designs - a dancer spinning in her own web of movement. This version includes a little extra -- a barqoue freshwater pearl "cloud" that our dancing dervish seems to be plucking out of the air.
The pendant is meticulously set with 51 tiny round diamonds in various sizes up to 1.3mm; Eytan wanted them to look like they just naturally collected into little pools of light. These diamonds are all natural (i.e., earth-mined) and untreated stones with a total diamond weight of 0.34 carats. Our supplier rated this parcel G-H color and high SI or low VS clarity.
The pearl is a freshwater baroque, glossy white and chosen specifically for its shape: our dancer appears is pressing her cloud at both ends, so we wanted a pearl that appeared to be a bit smooshed-looking -- like a pillow being caught between two hands.
