Magnificent Mid-19th Century Silver on Gold Natural Pearl and Diamond Pendant
About the Item
To fully appreciate the artistry and talent of it's creator, one needs to consider that this unique Mid-19th Century pendant-brooch was crafted by candle or gas light using only the rudimentary tools of the era. Crafted from 15k to 17k pink gold and oxidized silver, in every aspect this piece evokes the very finest of the period. The entire design area is generously set with Old mine cut and Rose cut diamonds, as well as four natural salt water pearls. Total approximate diamond weight is 2.75ct and overall diamond quality is I/J color and VS2/SI2 clarity. With a length of 2 5/8 inches from the pinnacle to the bottom of the hanging pearl, this is a Victorian jewel of considerable scale. The piece is equipped with a bale as well as pin, and can be worn as a brooch or suspended from a necklace as a pendant. GIA Certificate #2231115346 will accompany this precious item when sold. There are no markings to be found but testing confirms metals gold content. Gross weight 20.75 grams
