About the Item

Not only it is a beautiful piece of art it is a truly historical item, a jewel for a fine jewelry collection and also a financial investment for the future. Prices for the Russian art are at the bottom right now. With a central blue enameled plaque and royal cipher A III and the imperial Russian crown, the emblem to the Tsar, containing four old European cut diamonds weighing approximately 3.50 carats total surrounded by a halo of 12 old European cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.50 carats total. Total carat weight of ring approx: 6 Carats The ring is hallmarked M. P (in cyrilic) - Michael Perchin. The P is somewhat faded. A workmaster Michael Perchin for the famous Faberge jewelry house, St. Petersburg. Items of this era rarely come up for sale, with similar ring was sold in 2017 on the Hindman auction for over 100K USD. Color: E-F Clarity: VVS2-SI1 with most being VS Stamp: Russian 18K hallmark and St Petersburg city mark Ring Size: 8 (with original soldered sizing bar) Weight: 17.1 grams General condition is good, except for slight scratch to the enamel, and the lack of a small Diamond in the center of the crown. Rings bearing the cypher of the Sovereign had been given as personal gifts by Russian monarchs since the late eighteenth century, but their use became more frequent during the nineteenth. A III marks Alexander the Third a Russian Emperor from 1881 to 1894. While a ring might be presented at any time by the Emperor for services rendered or as a sign of personal favor, extravagant rings of this type were only granted according to the meeting of stringent requirements due to honorable length of service in the Army, the Civil service, or at Court. This ring, of prodigious size, was executed by Michael Perchin of Fabergé, and is unique in its form and in the opulent diamond encrusted ornamentation of its design.
