About the Item

Very likely French Ring, a variety of Bague au Firmamen late 18th. -early 19th. cent. From 1775, jewelry with blue enamel backgrounds became popular in Europe, especially in England and France. In France this Blue and diamond jewellery type was called ' Bagues de Firmament ' which means "Rings of the Heavens" as the diamonds represent celestial bodies on the deep blue night sky. Will look great both on Men or Women if the size is right. Usually high - quality Diamond Rings with Enameled backgrounds of that time always followed certain designs that allowed better protection of Enamel. The crown here is 13.5 mm x 13.5 mm with Cobalt Blue Guilloché enameled background and a flower in Silver featuring nine eight-cut Diamonds with open backs, it was designed to be highly decorative ! But technically it is also a protruding second Silver tier well set with hard and wear-resistant stones that was meant to disperse, redirect sideways or stop anything that is attempting to approach the Enamel. A bit of enamel became damaged anyway, but basically that worked well over time. The largest Diamond is Ø 4mm / ca 0.3 ct. color ca. L,M / SI , eight minor Diamonds Ø2mm / 0.04 ct ct. each, color ca. F,G /VS. Total weight of diamonds stones here : ca. 0.6 ctw. Wider band with ornamented shoulders / tested solid 18K Yellow Gold ( no hallmarks) . Size: Ø US 6.75 / 17.13 mm. It was sized in the past. Can be sized again. Weight: 11.5 grams. Condition is fine used for its age, minor damage to Enamel. Secure settings, it was inspected by a pro. jeweler.
