Antique 18k gold Mourning locket ring, Black enamel, Diamond and Pearl

About the Item

Did you ever lay eyes on such a wonderfully detailed and beautiful mourning ring. I was so excited for this piece to arrive being a lover of mourning jewels and it does not disappoint, everything about it is a work of art. It features a rich 18ct yellow gold band, fully hallmarked and decorated with black enamel depicting the words in Memory Of around the band, the shoulders are raised with small square mounts, finely enameled and each set with a small pearl. The face is not just beautifully designed it is also a hinged locket face, opening up much like the old infamous poison ring design, enclosing two locks of finely woven hair. The front of the locker face is decorated with black enamel and set with four lustrous, plump split pearls with a diamond point to the centre to create a forget me not flower. It is engraved to the back of the face with a personslised inscription and dated 1877. This is a genuine antique gem of a ring, filled with sentiment and beauty, incredibly well made and well kept, it comes in the original ring box too! Marks and era: Fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, Birmingham Assay office, 1878, Makers Mark for A&S possibly Aston and Son, Victorian era. Condition: Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age, minor nicks to the enamel in areas, some wear to the gold internally near the back of the band.
