About the Item

This excellent example of intaglio carving dates to Italy during the 1770s. The oval carved glass medallion which likely depicts Julius Caesar has been mounted in a later 18 karat yellow gold frame. The medallion is signed 'Hecker' for Christian Friedrich Hecker (1754-1795) who was active in Italy from around 1770 to 1790 and was known for his execution of fine cameos and intaglios. Hecker is known to have completed his apprenticeship under Giovanni Pilcher and can count the poet Goethe as a patron. There are examples of the work of Hecker held in the British Museum and pieces offered for sale by the great London jeweller, Wartski. The profile in the ring while not positively identified as Caesar has remarkable similarities to period depictions of him and likely is showing the famous Roman general. This ring is a one of a kind piece of Italian jewellery history and would suit a gentleman just as easily as it would a lady. Georgian 18 Karat Gold, Enamel and Seed Pearl Mourning Ring
Located in Brisbane City, QLD
An 18kt yellow gold, black enamel, and seed pearl mourning ring dating to 1817. The piece centres on a piece of likely Essex crystal which sits atop of the letters 'WF' cut from gold. Surrounding this crystal is halo of seed pearls set in a bed of black and white enamel. The beauty of this piece is that the ring is entirely as it was manufactured 200 years ago, with the shank unaltered, evidenced by the uninterrupted patterns on the piece. An absolutely stunning piece of Georgian era jewellery...

Cartier 18 Karat Yellow Gold 'Love' Ring
By Cartier
Located in Brisbane City, QLD
Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold this ring is from one of Cartier's most iconic collections, 'Love'. Originally designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1969 first as the 'Love' bracelet, the range has since grown to encompass earrings, rings, bracelets and neckwear. This relatively modern iteration of the 'Love' ring was probably crafted during the 21st Century and is an unusually large ring size, suitable for men, or ladies with a larger finger size. The original 'Love' bangle was designed in two parts with screws that locked the piece onto the wearer's arm, similar to how a chastity belt functioned, with the idea that the spouse would retain the screwdriver that could remove the piece, in essence locking their loved one to them. These Love bands have become a cult classic and are often worn by men and women globally as wedding bands. A really nice addition to a collection of Cartier or simply a nice plain band to stack other rings with. Ring size - 60/S Marked - 'Cartier 750 60...
