About the Item
1960s emerald diamond ballerina ring, Distinctive 18karat white gold ring in ballerina style set with three transparent, intensely colored emeralds in an octagonal step cut, totaling approx. 1 ct, framed by brilliant-cut diamonds and trapezoid cut diamonds, totaling approx. 1.2 ct F-G/VVS . The ring is in very good condition, the emeralds show minimal signs of wear.
Elusive and distinctive, ballerina rings are cluster rings designed to look like the ballet skirt (tutu) worn by ballerinas. Characteristic of their era, ballerina rings are decadent and elegant – and indeed a statement piece. The ballerina ring itself was invented in the 1950s and soared to popularity in the decades that followed, featuring in many collections of 1950s rings.
