About the Item

Elegant for its simplicity and yet 600-odd years in the making, this rose gold cocktail ring is produced using an ancient Albanian technique which was brought to Palermo, Sicily in the fifteenth century. Though craftspeople preserved the original technique in their new home, each invasion of Sicily brought greater understanding of jewels and jewellery making, and techniques began to fuse and merge. What has resulted is a jewellery technique unique almost specifically to Palermo, which relies on knowledge and handcrafting methods that have stood the test of time. In this piece, hundreds of carefully selected diamonds, each rose cut with 9 facets, are hand-chiselled into the top of the ring, which is made of silver and measures about 2.8 centimetres across. In total, this ring contains 2.45 carats of diamonds. An elegant statement piece, the detailed rose gold band and ring base, as well as the silver setting, make it as intriguing off the hand as it is on. This collection is more than a style of jewellery, it is an art form that captures the history of Sicily's capital city through their warm tones of rose gold, the intensity of the dark diamond sparkles from the beautifully simple silver dome, and the blending of ancient techniques used to create them.
