About the Item

This circa 1890s ring features an impressive oblong oval-shaped 11 carat amethyst with excellent purple and rose coloring. The 23.63mm x 11.33mm is surrounded by a halo of 22 tiny European-cut diamonds, each set into its own silver collet. Together the diamonds weigh approximately .50 carats -but it's impossible to achieve an accurate carat total for the diamonds because of the mounting. The total dimensions of the face of the ring including the diamond surround would be 31.82mm x 19.35. And it rises approximately 10.66mm from the surface of the finger. Like I said: impressive. Each shoulder is adorned with expressive, three-dimensional fleur-de-lis that renders what could be an ordinary ring shank into something quite regal. Everything about this ring is regal. From the unusually tall (over 4mm) silver collet settings for the antique diamonds to the elegantly elongated table facet of the amethyst. The underside of the stone is faceted as well, so instead of seeing your finger through the stone, you see the magnificent colors of the stone. There are no marks of any kind on the ring but the gold tests as higher than 14k, but lower than 18K so I'm thinking 15k. If so, that would likely make it English (it looks English, doesn't it?) and the marks are lost from a previous resize. A striking statement ring in old European gold and silver, set with a gem worthy of a scepter. This unisex ring is currently a size 8 and could be resized by your local jeweler.

Imperial Topaz & Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5
Located in Southbury, CT
This vivid pink imperial topaz ring -hand-crafted in England over 180 years ago- is one of the rarest and most unapologetically regal rings you will ever encounter. A size 10.5 ring, it was originally created for a man. But could of course be worn by anyone today. In the era this ring was created, men wore pearls. And no man would feel uncomfortable wearing a flashy pink gemstone because there is absolutely no other gemstone that looks like this. Topaz is a common gemstone and is typically white. It is irradiated to achieve its popular blue and pink colors. But naturally pink topaz is not common. It is in fact exceedingly rare, considerably rarer than diamonds. And this particular natural pink topaz gem is vividly saturated. It flashes purple. Having reviewed images of the pink imperial topaz necklace and earrings King Charles presented his wife, Queen Camilla...
