About the Item

British geometric ring with a Chrysocolla. An amazing sculptural cocktail ring, created in England during the modernism period, back in the 1970. The ring has been carefully crafted with geometric round patterns in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The design of the ring was made in three dimensions like a spiky basket, which is holding on top a blue Chrysocolla. Chrysocolla The name of this gemstone comes from the ancient Greek χρυσός (chrysos) and κολλα (kolla), "gold" and "glue," in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold and was first used by Theophrastus in 315 BC. Chrysocolla has a cyan (blue-green) color and is a minor ore of copper. It is of secondary origin and forms in the oxidation zones of copper orebodies. A 2006 study has produced evidence that Chrysocolla may be a microscopic mixture of the copper hydroxide mineral Spertinite amorphous silica and water. Chrysocolla: Mount in the center in multiple prongs settings, with 1 round cabochon cut (10 x 10 x 6 mm) of a natural Chrysocolla of about 3.5 carats. Birthstone: Chrysocolla for the month of December. Weight: 9.2 Grams, (5.90 Dwt). Size: 6.5 and can be sized on a special request. Measurements: 20 mm by 20 mm (0.79 x 0.79 Inches) and raise 12 mm over the finger. Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the 18kt gold and signed, "DJS .750". Collateral: This ring is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The Chrysocolla is secured in the setting. This ring has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity. INVENTORY REF: R083024MNNA/.2211

Still family owned and operated, the firm is currently based in Boca Raton, Florida, but was originally started in Naples, Italy, by Bartolomeo Aletto an Italian goldsmith. His first major commission was to create a special piece of jewellery to celebrate the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. In 1962, Alberto Aletto who was the third generation, moved the company to America, opening his business in New York. It is his son Alfredo who is leading the firm today with the support of his sons Alberto, Luigi and Mario. Excelling in complicated techniques, such as invisible-setting, the Aletto Brothers continue to create highly sought after, beautiful pieces of jewellery.
