About the Item
This exquisite diamond and 18 karat yellow gold ring was crafted by the renowned British modernist goldsmith David Thomas in the United Kingdom in 1973. A size 8, the ring bears David Thomas’ signature along with UK gold fineness marks and the London assay mark, ensuring its authenticity and quality. The design beautifully captures the essence of a blossoming flower, with each petal meticulously formed from looped gold wire, revealing six sparkling diamond “stamens” at its center. The substantial shank adds to the ring’s presence, making it not only a symbol of beauty but also a statement piece. Comfortable to wear, this ring is a timeless addition to any jewelry collection, perfect for enjoying all year round.
David Thomas is a distinguished British jeweler born in London in 1938. He began his artistic journey studying at Twickenham Art School and later honed his craft at the Royal College of Art in London, where he was appointed a "Royal Scholar." His early career included work for Bolin, the Swedish crown jeweler. He was recognized as one of the leading innovators in British jewelry during the 1960s when a new school of young designers transformed jewelry design. Thomas was known for his pioneering techniques in fine castings and ability to blend modernist design with traditional craftsmanship.
Throughout his career, Thomas designed not only for private clients but also for esteemed institutions, including national coinage for the Royal Mint. His work has been celebrated and included in prestigious collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
