The ring is work of art, poetic and radiant. The craftsmanship is superb with the conventional marriage of diamonds and pearls set aside for a newer more modern arrangement in 1970. Living high on the Hopi mesas, he broke multiple imposed prohibitions on Native American jewelers and despite being excluded in his early years from important shows because his jewelry was not Ïndian enough" he simply continued working and changed the arc of his peoples' jewelry making and universal jewelry culture forever. Through his modernist influence on jewelry, he transformed the design and lapidary techniques - height inlay, styles of shanks and bezel settings, and the use of new materials - lapis lazuli, wood, gold - in much of southwestern Native American jewelry for generations to come, He introduced this new form of beauty to the broader world. The statement kite shaped setting is ornamented with four square cut pavé set 0.20Ct sapphires. To the center of the design is a row of three old European round cut four claw set diamonds. The angular marquise shaped frame displays two three stone clusters of old European round cut three claw set diamonds, set to the top and bottom of the 1930s ring.
