About the Item

A unique pearl and 14-karat gold ring, by Knud Vilhelm Anderson for Anton Michelsen, circa 1970. Stamped 585, KVA, AM with logo. The ring is a size 06¼. 14-karat gold was the primary gold used in Nordic jewelry in these years. This is a brilliant modernist design tempered by the feminity of pearls and one of the best examples of Knud V. Anderson's work we have seen. The ring rises up on the finger in a perfectly symmetrical way, its geometry softened by the four pearls seated atop the gold. In the 1970s, Knud Andersen was the famed and final designer for the premier firm of Anton Michelsen, founded in Copenhagen in 1841. The firm was bought by George Jensen in 1985. Andersen also had his private jewelry design studio between 1975 and 1989.
