About the Item
A Kinetic sculptural ring designed by Pol Bury (Belgium 1922-2005).
An exceptional and very rare sculptural piece of kinetic art and Op-art, created between the 1968-2002 by the Belgian Artist Pol Bury. This cocktail ring is named Mezzaluna and has been carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with a high polished finish.
The design of this piece of wearable art, is composed by a sphere fractured into two parts, from which multiple cylinders emerge from the center. These elements contrast with the base and move freely creating sounds. The sound they produce gives the impression of moving water since the design is based on the model of the famous sculptural fountains, designed by Pol Bury in 1968 (See figures).
Weight: 31.7 Grams (20.32 Dwt).
Size: 8.5 and can be sized
Measurements: The diameter in the base is 28 mm (1.10 Inches) and raise 15 mm over the finger.
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the gold assay mark and signed twice inside the shank and under one sphere, "P BURY, POL BURY, BURY 4/8 *287VR .750".
Pol Bury, is best known for his kinetic sculptures, a Belgian artist that began his career as a surrealist painter heavily influenced by the work of Rene Magritte and Yves Tanguy. After turning to geometric abstraction and associating briefly with the Cobra Group, an avant-garde movement that espoused the complete freedom of color and form, Bury discovered Alexander Calder's work and began making mobiles of painted shapes and sculptures in which movement was emphasized. The movements he assigned to these sometimes-monumental works were often slow and almost imperceptible to the naked eye. “Speed limits space; slowness increases it,” he once said. over the course of his career, Bury created a number of fountains that incorporated water into their kinetic workings, including his well known L’octagon (1985) in the city of San Francisco.

Geometric ring designed by Pierre Cardin.
Sculptural modernist piece, created in France by the Parisian fashion designer Pierre Cardin, back in the 1970. This geometric sculptural ring has been crafted with minimalist patterns in solid sterling silver and yellow gold of 14 karats with high polished finish. This ring is part of the collection created between the 1960 and 1970, when the artist Jean Dinh Van was the creative head in the jewelry department of Pierre Cardin.
The design of these rings and other pieces of jewelry from these collections have always been inspired as a design pattern by the letters PC from Pierre Cardin's initials. Composite geometric shapes make up these letters, which although sometimes they are very obvious in the design, in others they are made in a more discreet way.
