About the Item
A huge, light seafoam-green cabochon of semi-transparent, natural, and untreated Burmese jadeite jade glows from across the room in its handmade silver Arts & Crafts era mounting. I have seen similar "water jade" stones of this size and color offered for sale as loose stones for upwards of $20,000.
Created entirely by hand in the early 1900s, this is a stunning and impressive ring because it retains its original pre-industrial revolution polish. Prior to the 1950s, jade was polished entirely by hand, without the benefit of electric buggers and diamond paste. It was an incredibly laborious process that required great skill, gained only through years of experience. The resulting polish is slightly softer than the hard, grand piano shine of modern jadeite.
The jade measures 18.20 x 18.17mm and is approximately 9mm thick. It's a huge, luminous, extraordinarily fine-grained and translucent gem and its pale green tone is evenly distributed throughout.
The hand-fabricated silver ring features decorative flower blossoms and berries, along with four powerful prongs that secure this magical jadeite stone in place.
The ring is a size 8 and could easily be resized by your local jeweler. Ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is untreated jadeite from Burma (Myanmar).

Jade & Pearl Ring Certified Untreated
Located in Southbury, CT
A large oval cabochon of translucent seafoam green jadeite jade is surrounded by 16 luminous natural pearls in this ever-stylish 14K white gold halo ring from the early 1950s.
The jade stone is natural and untreated and displays a high degree of translucency. Which is why this jade ring looks spectacular whether it is in direct sunshine, or just barely illuminated by the waning light of a nearby window. The luminous jade stone changes its appearance throughout the day, as the light changes. The jade cabochon measures 14.5mm x 9.19mm
Seafoam green was pointedly on-trend in the 1950s when this ring was hand-fabricated. The pearls surrounding the jade are at least partially drilled —possibly they are drilled all the way through; I can't tell because of how they are set in the mounting. At least one and probably all of the pearls are natural, un-cultured saltwater pearls. They are older than the ring itself. It's not unusual to encounter repurposed jewelry...
