Early portrait miniature memorial ring. Vertically set with an oval portrait miniature of a lady in late eighteenth century period dress wearing a floral hat on a blue ground, covered with a convex glass in a closed back collet setting, within a plain gold conforming frame, flanked by steeply tapered shoulders, and on a tapered D-shape shank, the reverse of the bezel engraved in cursive script ‘Mary/Madgwick/obt: 13 Jany/1793/At: 71’. Tested yellow gold, circa 1793.
