Victorian sapphire and diamond five stone ring, circa 1890
About the Item
Victorian sapphire and diamond five stone ring. Horizontally set with two cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced sapphires, one of Burmese origin, the other Basaltic, in open back claw and grain settings with an approximate total weight of 3.90 carats, further set to centre a cushion shape old mine cut diamond with an approximate weight of 1.90 carats, further adorned on each side with two cushion shape old mine cut diamonds with a combined weight of 0.60 carats, decorated with eight round rose cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.08 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 2.58 carats, to an impressive carved ring featuring ancurving claws, an open gallery carved with scrolling motifs, and fancy open backholing, flanked by intricately carved shoulders leading to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 1890, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5784-1618.
