Art Nouveau Enamel Ring by Marsiera
About the Item
An Art Nouveau enamel ring by Marsiera, depicting a finely engraved gold frog in front of a multi-colour plique-à-jour enamel sunset, flanked by old brilliant-cut diamonds, circa 1910, signed Masriera, bearing later French import marks for 18ct gold and platinum, the head measuring 2.2 x 1.5cm, finger size L, gross weight 12.6 grams.
This art noveau ring depicts a romantic landscape in which a frog sits beneath stars. Masriera, the Spanish jeweller, often drew inspiration from nature and his work was held in high regard across Europe, such that he was once commissioned to make a diadem for Queen Victoria. This ring is now a treasured piece of the collection of antique jewellery belonging to Bentley and Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
This antique ring is in very good condition for its age, scratches and pits throughout consistent with wear.
