About the Item
This unusual shaped gold ring wast created out of 9 karat gold in the 1st decade of the nineteenth century, over 22o years ago..
Basing my judgement on rings of this period with almost identical shanks carriing a dated inscription, I dare narrow down the date to 1803-1805. The rare trapeze shape of ring features the original slightly domed glass wuthin a grooved innerframe. Underneath the slightly sratched glass in which we discover cover black hair that has been woven into a geometric pattern. The ring shoulder are made of intewoveb goldwire, the design symbolizes eternity. As the ring carries nor inscrition nor date we can presune thar it was as sentimental token of friendship.
