About the Item

A wonderful George III period chamber stick in sterling silver by Henry Chawner of London. An elegant scrolled handle is mounted to an octagonal base underneath a column with reeded details and a compartment that would have originally held the accompanying 'snuff scissors', which have been lost to time. The piece has a slightly rubbed makers mark for Henry Chawner who was working in London in the last part of the 18th Century. The piece retains its original hallmarked silver nozzle to aid in the removal of old candles and wax. A lovely example of Georgian simplicity and a beautiful addition to place beside the bed on a nightstand. Marked - assay marks for London, 1792 & a slightly rubbed makers mark for Henry Chawner Measures - 9cm H x 15.5cm at widest Total weight of piece - 207.5 grams
