About the Item
A fine antique German silver tea caddy.
In .800 silver.
By Georg Roth & Co.
Decorated throughout with repousse bucolic scenes and floral swags. The long edges both depict a man with a gardening rake arm in arm with a woman carrying a basket of fruit, and the short edges each show a woman carrying a bundle of wheat in one hand and balancing a basket of fruit on her head with the other.
The lid with a floral finial and monogrammed to one side for "MDH".
Marked to the base with partially rubbed pseudo-Hanau hallmarks for the Hanauer-Silberwaren Manufaktur (later known as Georg Roth & Co.),
The base also bears an engraved dedication "Dec. 11 1878 - 1903". (We assume for a 25th 'Silver' anniversary).
Simply a wonderful tea caddy!

Condition Details:
With some light high point wear and some noticeable scratches to the base. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
