Pair of Antique Georgian English Sterling Silver Tea Caddies by Francis Crump

About the Item

A fine matched pair of English 18th century tea caddies. In sterling silver. Marked for Francis Crump, London, and 1758. Having central cartouches bearing an engraved heraldic banner with scallop shells, slightly lobed bodies with a left hand twist, repoussé vines, and floral devices throughout. Supported by a pierced rocaille feet and surmounted by shaped lids with floral finials. Simply a superb pair of George III silver tea caddies from one the Period's premier Silversmiths! Date: 1758 Overall Condition: They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Francis Crump Marks: Marked to the neck of each caddy (covered by the lid) with an "F.C" Francis Crump's maker's mark, passant lion for sterling, crowned leopard for London, and a C for 1758.
