About the Item

A fine antique Georgian salt cellar. In sterling silver. By Robert Hennell I. With scroll handles, a beaded edge & foot, repousse decoration around the body, and a central cartouche with an engraved monogram. Simply a wonderful period salt cellar! Date: 1781 Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: The bowl sits slightly askew on the foot. There is some light edge wear, and some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Engraved: Monogram to the central cartouche Maker: Robert Hennell I Marks: Hallmarked for LONDON / STERLING / RH / f (for 1781) Measurements: Width: ca. 4 7/8 in. Height: ca. 2 1/8 in.
