Antique English Sterling Silver Pap Boat
About the Item
Antique sterling silver pap boat from London, England, circa 1803.
No monogram
Pap boats are a shallow feeding bowl with a pouring lip on one side that were used to feed infants, children and the infirm. They first appeared in the early 1700's. This pap boat features a smooth polished finish. Hallmark dates this piece to 1803.
Measures approx 4 1/2" long, 2 1/2" wide at widest point, 1" deep at side.
Weighs approx 40.7g, 26.2dwt.
Fully hallmarked at back with a makers mark (partly faded, can see the letter H) lion (sterling) leopard (London city mark) H (date mark for 1803)
Very nice antique condition with surface scratching, some tarnish/discoloration spots, and some dents in the bottom and the back.
Will be packages securely and shipped US Priority Mail with insurance.
