Buren was a small independent factory named after the small town of Buren in the Canton of Bern, the capital of Switzerland. It was founded in 1898 and specialized in small table clocks and watches. The firm eventually was purchased by the American house of Hamilton in 1966 when they realized they could no longer produce watches in America competitively.
This example likely done in the 1940's has a great art deco look in a round style with a distinctive lug design.
