OMEGA MUSEUM COLLECTION 1938 PILOT'S WATCH Collector's Series 5700.50.07 - Stainless Steel Like New Condition - Very Cool & Historically Interesting - 1 Year Warranty A Timeless Tribute to Aviation Excellence Enjoy the thrill of owning a piece that hearkens back to horological history. The Omega 1938 Museum Collection Pilot’s Watch, a meticulously crafted timepiece that pays homage to Omega’s legendary contribution to aviation, is the perfect fusion of vintage charm and cutting-edge craftsmanship. It's more than just a tool—it’s a symbol of precision, legacy, and the spirit of aviation. The Story Behind the Watch In the 1930's, Omega released a very unusual piece, the CK 2042 pilot's watch. They are coveted by vintage collectors but have easily reached 5-figures regularly at auctions in recent years. Though they have amazing presence and stunning art-deco styling, but their rarity puts them out of reach for most collectors. When Omega decided to create their Museum Collection, the first watch they released was this Museum Edition No. 1 1938 Aviator's watch. The original Omega Pilot’s Watch was designed to meet the demanding requirements of the aviation industry, combining legibility, durability, and reliability in a way that was ahead of its time. The Museum Collection pays tribute to that rich history, offering a modern interpretation of the original design that captures the essence of early 20th-century aviation, while staying true to Omega's relentless pursuit of excellence. A faithful and very lovingly reinterpreted modernization of the CK 2042, this watch maintained the original's size, dimensions, bezel and layout, with an accurately re-imaged dial and hands and modern Super-Luminova in the same style as the original radium. This certified pre-owned Omega 1938 Museum Collection Pilot’s Watch represents a connection to that legacy. The attention to detail, the exquisite craftsmanship, and the undeniable sense of history all combine to create an heirloom-quality timepiece that is as much a conversation starter as it is a precision instrument. It is all-original and in mint condition - a 9.8 out of 10. The only wear to the watch is the tiniest bit on the edge of the case where the back is designed to be pried open for servicing. Otherwise it presents like new. It is number 391 in a limited edition of 4938. Key Features - Movement: Powered by Omega’s reliable Caliber 2200 automatic movement, it provides exceptional accuracy and a rich tactile experience with every turn of the crown. - Case: With a 41mm stainless steel case, brushed to perfection with a timeless, vintage-inspired design it strikes an excellent balance between ruggedness and sophistication. - Dial: Its bold black dial with luminous hands and markers offers fantastic legibility under many conditions. The contrast between the dial and the white markers enhances visibility, making it as practical as it is stylish. Why We Love it This Omega 1938 Museum Collection Pilot’s Watch is not just a timekeeper—it’s a tribute to the golden age of aviation. It offers a connection to the pioneers who relied on precision timekeeping to navigate the skies, a connection to a time when the world was just beginning to understand the potential of flight. Whether you’re a watch enthusiast, a lover of aviation history, or someone who simply appreciates timeless design, this Omega 1938 Museum Collection Pilot’s Watch will take you on a journey through time and legacy—one tick at a time. One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, serviced the watch which carefully inspecting it, installing a new Omega mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $595 value). It is running strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position. The clean and functional watch, a considerable success for Omega, possessed a number of designed elements that made it stand out: An ellipse shape with recessed crown determined to be the best geometric shape for the wrist, determined after extensive study Unicoc case with hermetically sealed crystal water-resistant to a depth of 30m. Available with a stainless steel bracelet or easily interchangeable water-resistant Cor-fam straps According to an Omega advertisement at the time, "The shape of the Omega Dynamic was determined by the anatomy of your wrist; its dial by the workings of your eyes; it strap by the physiology of your skin." Today's offering showcases this first edition Dynamic in gorgeous all-original condition. The first generation of the watch lasted only from 1968 until 1970. It has an awesome untouched two-tone sector dial. As one of the early Dynamics, before Omega switched to using the 1000 series movements for the line, it is powered by Omega's high-grade caliber 565. Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement, one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs, was the top-tier offering of the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and a quick-setting date and is arguably the finest mass-produced automatic movement from era. It is all-original and presents in gorgeous condition. Its case presents as mint.
