Desires 1
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The painting titled "Desires 1" is a beautiful work of art that depicts two women sitting across from each other, engaged in what seems to be a deep and meaningful conversation. The painting, created by Esinulo Chiamaka Praise, features an older woman and a younger woman, each holding a white flower, which adds a sense of purity and serenity to the scene. The older woman, who appears to be in his 50s, and the younger woman, who looks to be in his 20s, are both dressed in a more simple dress. Both women are seated on chairs, with their faces turned towards each other in a relaxed yet focused manner. The title of the painting, "Desires 1," adds an element of intrigue and mystery to the scene, as it hints at the possibility of underlying desires and motivations between the two women. However, the painting does not provide any clear answers or indications of what those desires might be, leaving the interpretation up to the viewer. Wisdom is gathered from lessons learned from experiences. Time and age guide a man through life as regards choices or wants... One possible interpretation of the painting is that it represents the passing of knowledge and wisdom from one generation to the next. The older woman appears to be sharing something with the younger woman, who listens intently and respectfully. The white flowers that both women are holding could be seen as symbols of purity and innocence, representing the purity of the knowledge and wisdom being shared. What you want today may not be what you would want tomorrow, wants change with time. Experiences and age have an influence on choices. Responsibilities are given with time. What is your desire now? Another interpretation of the painting is that it represents a deep and meaningful conversation between two people who share a close and intimate relationship. The fact that both women are holding white flowers suggests a sense of purity and love between them, while their relaxed and focused expressions indicate a sense of comfort and ease in each other's presence. In terms of technique, the painting is expertly executed, with rich colors and intricate details that bring the scene to life. Keating's use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and dimensionality, while the placement of the two men in the center of the painting draws the viewer's attention to their faces and the emotions that are portrayed in them. Overall, "Desires 3" is a beautiful and thought-provoking painting that captures the essence of a deep and meaningful conversation between two people. It is a testament to the power of art to evoke emotion and inspire reflection, leaving the viewer with a sense of curiosity and wonder about the motivations and desires of the two women in the painting. Ocean of Conversations, I Wonder What Speaks Beneath
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
At first glance, the central figure seated on the couch draws our attention. His posture suggests a moment of introspection, an invitation for viewers to peer into his internal world. The placement of the bottle of alcohol at his feet immediately introduces a layer of symbolism, hinting at the potential for inner turmoil and emotional struggles. The artwork encapsulates the notion that some of the most significant conversations we engage in are not the ones with others but the dialogues we have with ourselves. The inner voice, often unacknowledged but constantly present, plays a pivotal role in shaping our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Whether we are conscious of it or not, our self-talk influences our perception of the world, our self-esteem, and our overall well-being. Adetayo's portrayal deftly captures the spectrum of self-talk. On one end, the inner dialogue can be a source of positivity and empowerment, much like a guiding light illuminating our path. These self-affirming conversations inspire us, boost our confidence, and encourage us to pursue our dreams. Just as sunlight glistens on the ocean's surface, these moments of self-assuredness infuse our lives with brilliance and hope. On the other hand, the presence of the alcohol bottle suggests a darker side to self-talk. Just as the ocean's depths can conceal hidden currents, negative self-talk can be equally concealed, festering below the surface. The artwork serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us that unchecked negativity can erode our self-confidence and well-being. This juxtaposition underscores the importance of cultivating a conscious and compassionate inner dialogue. "Ocean of Conversations, I Wonder What Speaks Beneath" stands as a mirror reflecting our own inner landscapes. It prompts us to consider the conversations we engage in with ourselves—do we uplift and motivate or do we undermine and doubt? Adetayo's creation invites us to reflect on our own patterns of self-talk and the ways in which they shape our experiences. Adeniyi Joshua...

Yoga Feelings On My Vintage Jacket
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Alagbe's artwork draws attention to the man's jacket, which showcases his bare chest. The jacket, reminiscent of a vintage style, represents the layers we often wear to shield ourselves from the world. By revealing his bare chest, the man symbolizes a willingness to be vulnerable and open to self-exploration. The jacket becomes a canvas for introspection, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own inner journeys toward peace and self-discovery. The quote by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, "We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless we first establish peace within our own minds," resonates deeply with Alagbe's artwork. It highlights the idea that true peace cannot be attained externally unless we find serenity within ourselves. The artwork invites viewers to examine their own inner landscape and cultivate a sense of harmony, balance, and compassion toward themselves and others. Embedded within the artwork is another profound quote, this time from The Bhagavad Gita...

Last Shot
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
At the heart of "Last Shot" is a young woman, the central character of this evocative piece. She is fully absorbed in the game of snooker, her posture and facial expression revealing intense concentration and determination. The artist has deliberately obscured all the colored snooker balls, leaving only the white ball visible. This compositional choice draws the viewer's attention to the player's anticipation of her "last shot." The backdrop of "Last Shot" is a dimly lit snooker hall, creating an atmosphere of suspense and intrigue. The faint glow of overhead lights accentuates the drama of the moment, casting shadows that add depth and complexity to the scene. The absence of details surrounding the white ball and the player's narrowed focus on it contributes to the overall feeling of precision and concentration. "Last Shot" is a visual metaphor for life's critical moments—those decisive occasions when everything hinges on a single move. By obscuring the colored balls and leaving only the white ball visible, the artwork symbolizes the importance of making the right choices, even when faced with uncertainty and obscurity. The young woman's unwavering focus on her last shot encourages viewers to consider their own pivotal moments in life. It prompts reflection on the significance of each action and the consequences that follow, reminding us that sometimes, a single move can determine the course of our journey. "Last Shot" by Akinboye Akinola Peter...

Self Love
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Self Love," a poignant creation by Adegbola Deborah, celebrates the essence of self-acceptance and the transformative power of embracing one's true identity. At the heart of this artwork is a young woman, beautifully depicted with a sense of authenticity that transcends societal norms and standards. The title, "Self Love," serves as a guiding principle for the viewers, emphasizing the importance of unconditional self-love. The accompanying message is a powerful reminder that true self-love goes beyond superficial aspects such as physical appearance. It encourages us to look within and understand the depth of our being, recognizing that our worth is not determined by external factors like the shape of our face, the size of our eyes, the length of our hair, or the quality of our clothes. The artwork's portrayal of the young woman becomes a visual narrative of empowerment through a positive mindset. The idea that one's self is a treasure reinforces the concept that within each individual lies a wealth of potential, unique qualities, and inherent value. The emphasis on self-love as the most important love of one's life underscores the significance of cultivating a compassionate and nurturing relationship with oneself. Adegbola Deborah's "Self Love" stands as a profound reminder to viewers to appreciate and embrace their authentic selves. In a world that often imposes unrealistic standards, this artwork serves as an empowering beacon, encouraging individuals to cherish their uniqueness, and fostering a deep connection with the essence of who they are. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Deborah is a very promising budding Nigerian artist who was fortunate to be born into the idyllic serenity of the agrarian town of Saki, surrounded by the immensely inspirational botanical splendor that the community had to offer. These assets combined to nurture the newly discovered talent waiting to be expressed by the young artist who was only fifteen then, having been born in the nineties. Deborah usually derives her creative impulse from nature, everyday experiences, her own sensitive reactions, and her unique interpretation of events and phenomena with a marked inclination towards realism. Hence Deborah's works are at once her own means of catharsis and a vehicle for the showcasing of nature's beauty and by extension human beauty with a particular emphasis on feminine charm. From another perspective, her works represent her own reaction to everyday emerging and re-emerging phenomena hence are inevitably her own self-disclosure. Having been raised within a polygamous home she finds herself equipped with the necessary native intelligence for a mature interpretation of experiences. Deborah is both a gifted artist and a talented scholar. She attended the Polytechnic Ibadan Eruwa campus after which she obtained a degree in fine arts from Olabisi Onabanjo University emerging as the best student at graduation. A prominent part of Deborah's style is the use of flowers or floral background patterns in her works. These serve to reflect her enchantment with nature. Also, traces of impressionism are to be found in her creations. In highlighting feminine assets she chooses to focus on women...
