A strange card to the wail of the unseen host, somewhere in Africa across the fields, turning over an unfortunate card and laying them slickly in the firelight, winking in such dark, knowing eyes. I was passing at some distance, circled and charmed to all ends, painting the figure in place of any other kind of sustenance, yet distracted and possessed by one who would undoubtedly deny it. One who would claim to have never had my name.

Oladimeji Alabi is an experimental contemporary visual artist based in Lagos. His works are based on social and environmental issues in modern Nigeria and the globe, while highlighting and archiving the social customs of his Yoruba ethnicity. Oladimeji's works are in paintings (acrylics, charcoal, spray cans, and LED), graffiti, illustrations, wood works, street art, and wearable art.
Oladimeji studied Fine Art at the Yaba College of Technology in Lagos and has created works shown in exhibitions, auctions, and magazines in Nigeria and beyond. However, a deceptive love sequel results in a person's broken heart and soul, which later becomes stiff and resistant. There is stiffness and resistance because of the fear of being betrayed again, of being used and dumped, of being called a fool, and of being trampled upon. So, a firm NO is the response to each white rose given again and again. Once bitten, twice shy. Once given a white rose, twice careful of falling prey to the trap of deceptive love. Maybe one day, sincere love will come to stay. Till then, many white roses offered will be rejected with a sigh.
