Self Love
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Self Love," a poignant creation by Adegbola Deborah, celebrates the essence of self-acceptance and the transformative power of embracing one's true identity. At the heart of this artwork is a young woman, beautifully depicted with a sense of authenticity that transcends societal norms and standards. The title, "Self Love," serves as a guiding principle for the viewers, emphasizing the importance of unconditional self-love. The accompanying message is a powerful reminder that true self-love goes beyond superficial aspects such as physical appearance. It encourages us to look within and understand the depth of our being, recognizing that our worth is not determined by external factors like the shape of our face, the size of our eyes, the length of our hair, or the quality of our clothes. The artwork's portrayal of the young woman becomes a visual narrative of empowerment through a positive mindset. The idea that one's self is a treasure reinforces the concept that within each individual lies a wealth of potential, unique qualities, and inherent value. The emphasis on self-love as the most important love of one's life underscores the significance of cultivating a compassionate and nurturing relationship with oneself. Adegbola Deborah's "Self Love" stands as a profound reminder to viewers to appreciate and embrace their authentic selves. In a world that often imposes unrealistic standards, this artwork serves as an empowering beacon, encouraging individuals to cherish their uniqueness, and fostering a deep connection with the essence of who they are. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Deborah is a very promising budding Nigerian artist who was fortunate to be born into the idyllic serenity of the agrarian town of Saki, surrounded by the immensely inspirational botanical splendor that the community had to offer. These assets combined to nurture the newly discovered talent waiting to be expressed by the young artist who was only fifteen then, having been born in the nineties. Deborah usually derives her creative impulse from nature, everyday experiences, her own sensitive reactions, and her unique interpretation of events and phenomena with a marked inclination towards realism. Hence Deborah's works are at once her own means of catharsis and a vehicle for the showcasing of nature's beauty and by extension human beauty with a particular emphasis on feminine charm. From another perspective, her works represent her own reaction to everyday emerging and re-emerging phenomena hence are inevitably her own self-disclosure. Having been raised within a polygamous home she finds herself equipped with the necessary native intelligence for a mature interpretation of experiences. Deborah is both a gifted artist and a talented scholar. She attended the Polytechnic Ibadan Eruwa campus after which she obtained a degree in fine arts from Olabisi Onabanjo University emerging as the best student at graduation. A prominent part of Deborah's style is the use of flowers or floral background patterns in her works. These serve to reflect her enchantment with nature. Also, traces of impressionism are to be found in her creations. In highlighting feminine assets she chooses to focus on women...

Beflowered I
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Be-Flowered" is deeply rooted in the African cultural heritage of a female child. In African culture, it is revered that a young woman should maintain her sexual purity until marriage, which brings immense joy and honor to her family when her husband finds her a virgin on their wedding night. The title "Be-Flowered" is derived from the concept of "Deflower," which signifies taking away a lady's innocence or dispossessing her of her virginity. However, in this painting series, my premise is centered on empowering women and celebrating their pride and inherent power. The first two pieces of the series feature ladies adorned in traditional South African bids worn during the Virgin festival. The gentle pink clouds symbolize feminine power and poise, evoking the strength and grace embodied by women. A community that empowers women tends to uphold higher moral standards than one that does not. My perspective veers away from the idea of gender equality, recognizing its limitations, and instead, I believe in gender equity, providing each gender with the opportunities they need to fulfill their potential. This series aims to leave my audience with a profound appreciation for empowerment and a celebration of cultural heritage. I hope viewers will reflect on the significance of embracing one's roots while acknowledging the strength and beauty that women contribute to society. Contemplating Abundance
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
In a world brimming with abundance, a man finds himself caught in the depths of introspection. Lost in thought, he stands before a plate of luscious fruits, their vibrant colors and succulent aromas beckoning to his senses. Yet, his focus transcends the immediate gratification of indulgence as he delves into the realm of profound contemplation. Contemplating Abundance" captures the complex interplay between the physical and the metaphysical, the material and the intellectual. It prompts us to pause, question, and to appreciate the richness of our existence beyond superficial desires. It urges us to delve deeper, savoring not only the fruits before us but the profound contemplation that accompanies the abundance of life itself. Golden Triangle 2
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"The golden triangle" is the second pair from the series of Abfillage works referred to as "Renegades of a breaking nation". The eliminated afro hair, the symbol, and the expressions form the basis of the narrative of this art. The expression of serenity, tranquility, calmness, pride, unconscious of the external environment, and a state of deep thought defines the emotional status of the subject. The symbol of this pair is a triangular sign made with a golden color on the neck. It is made of three strokes, unlike the first pair made of 2 strokes, thereby showing a transition. It is basic and a symbol of balance like the other four paintings. The term "golden triangle" is a term used in mathematics for a triangle with an interior angle ratio of 1:2:2. But rather than constructing a mathematical golden triangle, the triangle was painted with golden pigment. The triangle is a symbol of geometric sturdiness and strength, a symbol of harmony, and unity of 3 parts. When we are focused on our truth, we are connected to life and have the experience of life coming to us. "Renegades of a breaking nation" is a series of 5 Abfillage artworks, created in 3 sections creating a form of transition using 3 symbols. A transition from a state of one nation to another. By creating a combination of expressive portraits and symbols in gold acrylic pigments which all signify balance. A transition to steadiness, equilibrium, and stability of a country. Shipping Procedure Ships from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa, Prosper grew up drawing comics and characters which enabled him to understand the human figure and expressions properly, after which he became a full-time studio artist in 2017 Prosper studied at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, where he learned Building technology with an architectural background on designing. He also acquired expertise in graphic design, illustration, 3D modeling, video editing, and animation In 2018 he had his first official art exhibition where he won the Peace Poster award for his painting on Peace at the ANBUKRAFT He has participated in several exhibitions and competitions since then and has won some of them In 2020 he was signed as a brand ambassador to TECNO mobile Nigeria on a one year deal His works has appeared in countries like South Africa, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan e t c Prosper Aluu makes figurative and expressive paintings His stylized figures show the use of the artistic devices of elongation and exaggeration and his unique style of painting the iconic afro hairstyle These are his ways of celebrating and negotiating African identity In traditional African art visual codes, the exaggeration of the head in comparison to other parts of the body is a well-known visual strategy to establish the head as the seat of wisdom...

Backyard
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
In "Backyard," the central figure—a woman—commands attention against a backdrop of natural beauty. She stands in her own space, seemingly lost in thought, creating an atmosphere of both stillness and introspection. Adetayo's portrayal of this woman invites viewers to consider the emotions and thoughts that might be coursing through her mind. Is she reflecting on memories? Contemplating her place in the world? The interpretation becomes a personal journey for each observer. The landscape that envelops the woman is not just a passive backdrop but a powerful metaphor. Just as the external world shapes our internal experiences, the landscape symbolizes the myriad influences that contribute to one's sense of self. The woman's connection to the environment around her mirrors the intricate relationship between identity and surroundings. The notion of a "backyard" often evokes a sense of familiarity and intimacy. It is a space that is uniquely personal, and this artwork invites us to ponder what this personal space means for the woman depicted. In much the same way, we are all shaped by our own "backyards"—our histories, cultures, and experiences that come together to form our individual identities. The tranquility of the artwork encourages viewers to embrace the beauty of stillness and contemplation. In a world that often moves at breakneck speed, "Backyard" reminds us of the value of taking a moment to disconnect, reflect, and connect with our own thoughts and emotions. The woman's posture, relaxed and poised, suggests that she is attuned to this moment of quiet introspection. Adetayo's choice to depict a woman adds an additional layer of significance. Historically, women have been portrayed as subjects of scrutiny and objectification, often with their thoughts and emotions overlooked. "Backyard" challenges this norm by presenting a woman as the focal point of a scene that radiates depth and complexity. While "Backyard" is a singular artwork with a specific subject, its themes resonate universally. Regardless of gender or background, the artwork invites viewers to reflect on their own personal landscapes, the spaces they occupy, and the introspective moments that shape their lives. Adetayo's ability to capture such universal themes while maintaining a unique and personal touch is a testament to the power of art to bridge gaps and foster connections across diverse audiences.
