Created in 2020 from celebrated American realist artist Willard Dixon, who has captured the undeniable beauty of the west for the past 35 years. Dixon’s work can be found in numerous distinctive private and public collections, as well as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, as well as the Oakland Museum of California.

This is a pair of framed original one-of-a-kind watercolor paintings of flowering plants entitled "Monandria Monogymia, Costus Speciosus" and "Tetrandria Monogynia, Ixorci Stricta" by an anonymous artist.
This striking and detailed pair of framed watercolor botanical paintings are presented in identical gold-colored wood frames with cream-colored mats and gold-colored fillets. They are glazed with UV conservation glass. Each of the frames measures 21.5" high, 19.25" wide and 1" deep. The watercolors are painted on very thin Japanese or India paper, which have some wrinkling due in part to the nature of the production and the mounting on a backing of this kind of very thin paper. The paintings are otherwise in very good condition.
Monandria is a class of flowers with one stamen. Cheilocostus speciosus, also know as crêpe ginger, is in the family Costaceae. It is native to southeast Asia and surrounding regions, from India to China to Queensland and Indonesia. "This painting was created in one fast sitting, with furious yet thoughtful brushstrokes," explains Rachel. "The acrylic paint ranges from thick impasto a thin watercolor-like veil." Part of Rachel's signature cubist coffee series. For these pieces, she studies her extensive collection of cafetieres that she keeps in her studio. The works are both about celebrating her love of coffee, and depicting light, pattern, and repetition as though it were set to music.
About the Artist
For Rachel Srinivasan, an idea is worth putting on a canvas only if it still feels exciting after a few days. Rachel enjoys mulling the idea over in her mind for some time before creating an artwork. She hopes viewers will engage with her work and wonder about the subject matter, shapes and colors. "My current work is all about creating a connection between the person on the canvas with the viewer," she explains. She prefers large paintings and sometimes even makes her own canvases. She currently lives in Arizona and enjoys baking rhubarb pies, reading, running and going to art museums.

The artwork measures 24 x 24 inches (25 x 25 inches, framed.) It is floating in a simple painted wood frame. It is hand signed in the lower right corner of the frame by the artist. The piece is in very good condition. I am estimating this work was created some time in the 1990s based on the subject and style, but that is only an educated guess.
