ARTIST STATEMENT
My work passionately reflects my Mexican cultural roots. The art forms appear and are created as stories in the round as I transform and mutate a magic fusion of colors, shapes and a way of life into them. I often use faces joined by zigzag or curved lines. Flower petals characteristically fashion the idea of dealing with one’s aura. Some of the vessel forms I use (the goddess series) are used to symbolically connect earth to women… a container used for nutrients of survival.
My work also speaks of healing. Pieces are created to capture great depth of emotion, celebration, suffering, and cultural bonding.

By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks. Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience. In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. Llisa Demetrios has been a bronze sculptor for over twenty years. She often begins a series by making small wood maquettes and then fabricating in bronze in her studio. The Lunar Asparagus series and the Titan series, ranging in scale from 12 inches to 10 feet tall in both indoor and outdoor settings, are often made in pairs or trios, and incorporate the negative space between the sculptures, forming a virtual additional sculpture. In her Lunar Asparagus series, Demetrios drew inspiration from ancient obelisks and totemic emblems. She enjoys the idea of using modern welding skills with the traditional material of bronze.
