Marguerite, Young Girl with Flower Impressionist work
By Hovsep Pushman
Located in Greenwich, CT
In Marguerite the white peonies are a symbol of riches and honor used in Chinese art that profoundly influenced Pushman. This painting is in an originally chosen "Pushman" frame acquired from Barcelona, Spain. There is incredible color in this work and exciting brushwork. It is a true example of Impressionist technique, perhaps some of the finest technically of all American painters at this time. At this time Pushman painted all ethnicities and here we see the unusual subject of a younger sitter. Thus Pushman has emphasized purity and innocence. Panel inside frame measures 32 x 23 and it is signed lower left. As well as it bears the Pushman cataloguing number #47 on verso which attests to its early date in his career.
Against these stark white symbols, Pushman paints in sharp contrast a dark backdrop reminiscent of an Oriental tapestry...

Featuring seven English gents sporting various styles of bespoke apparel

Herbert Fell Sharp was a British comic artist/illustrator born in London, United Kingdom in the district of Islington, son of Charles Sharp and Catherine née Fell. He immigrated to United States by 1910 married Ruth Sheriff in 1916 in Westchester, New York.
He lived at 31 Poplar Street, Brooklyn and served as a former president to the New Rochelle Art Association in Westchester County, New York, an organization that included J.C. Leyendecker as a prominent member during the 1950's. Sources suggest that Fell Sharp began his career as a comic artist, composing illustrations for the Amalgamated Press comics circa 1900 and "The Jester and Wonder" in 1905.
Mr. Sharp possesses an artistic technique that is easy to identify and yet unique. The people featured in his artwork show details of pointed noises. Sharp's career, like his contemporaries, explored a diversity of avenues in which to market his craft. For example, he sketched artwork that consisted of war themes. As you will see, his art signatures feature his middle name on most prints, but sometimes may include middle and last names together coupled with the year of its completion.
There are some websites that happen to confuse Sharp's work with Laurence Fellows...

Artist Statement
I'm drawn towards nature imagery that depicts isolated elements in their continual struggle to flourish under desolate circumstances. The seemingly bleak, the empty landscape, speaks to me. It is in this silence that I see the never-ending waves of struggle, wearing down, and rebirth emerging.
The process of endless building and reconfiguring transcends the mere physical and encompasses the spiritual and symbolic. The scars and flowers of experience against a backdrop of an endless sea of days transform into a tiny glimpse of what Heaven might be. In what some see as mere desolation, I find a spark of the sublime: a release into a quiet revelry, and a peace that covers it all...

Charing Cross - The Statue of Charles I.
By William Walcot R. E. Hon. R. I. B. A.
Located in Storrs, CT
Charing Cross -- The Statue of Charles I. 1919. Etching with aquatint and drypoint. 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 (sheet 9 1/8 x 11 3/8). A fine proof with tonal wiping, printed on cream-wove paper. Signed in pencil.
Charing Cross is located at the junction of the Strand, Whitehall, and Cockspur Street in Central London, England. The name originates from the Eleanor cross installed by King Edward I as a memorial to his wife, Eleanor of Castile at the former hamlet of Charing. Since 1675, the cross site has been occupied by a statue of King Charles I mounted on a horse. The pedestal is thought to be designed by Wren and carved by Grinling Gibbons.
Chelsea Old Church, also known as All Saints, is an Anglican church, on Old Church Street, Chelsea, London SW3, England, near Albert Bridge. It is the church for a parish in the Diocese of London, part of the Church of England. Inside the Grade I listed building, there is seating for 400 people. There is a memorial plaque to the author Henry James (1843–1916) who lived nearby on Cheyne Walk. To the west of the church is a small public garden containing a sculpture by Sir Jacob Epstein.
When he was seventeen,William Walcot began to study architecture under Louis Benois at the Imperial Academy of Art in Saint Petersburg. He went to Paris where he continued his studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Atelier Redon. He practiced as an architect briefly in Moscow, designing the Hotel...

John Charles Terelak is recognized as one of America's finest living impressionists. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he received formal art instruction at the Vesper George School of Fine Art. As demand for his work grew, it eventually became necessary for John to devote his full energies to the creation of his own paintings. Since making that decision he has enjoyed outstanding and continuing success in his career. His professional career at the easel now spans more than three decades. In addition to his beautiful work in oil, Terelak is also a master in watercolor and pastel. He is also a past President of The New England Watercolor...

"And his interest in London has not been restricted to the Thames. Seeing the beautiful, where other men might be discouraged by dullness, he has taken his subject, now in the little cheap shop opening a low window upon the street, now in the forgotten church hidden away in a lonely square. And Chelsea Rags, the Shops of Chelsea, the Drury Lane, as well as The Butcher's Dog, are impressions of vague Rembrandtesque interiors where figures, grim or graceful, peer from out deep shadows— shops as lovely in his prints as the halls of a Veronese, or the palaces of a Claude."
