By Ernest Rouart
Located in Roma, IT
Couple of Deers is an original drawing realized by Ernest Rouart in the early XX Century. Pencil on paper; signed on the lower right margin. The back of the artwork is sketched in pencil. Passepartout included (49 x 34 cm). Very good conditions. Very nice sketch representing a couple of little cute deers. The softness and the elegance of the contour lines reflect the great talent of Rouart, especially in the representation of animals. The proportions of the bodies are precise, clear, and simple. The artist realized many different sketches with deers and other animals in different poses. Ernest Rouart (Paris, 1874 – Paris, 1942) was a French painter, illustrator, engraver, and art collector. Birds of Europe by John and Elisabeth Goult, 1832
By John Gould and Elizabeth Gould
Located in Paris, FR
Rare Set of 6 beautiful Naturalistic hand-colored lithograph prints by John Gould from his work Birds of Europe, embelished with gum arabic in vibrant colors. Published 1832 - 1837 by Hullmandel, Walter and Walton. Presented in gold leaf wood frames. Very charming . The price includes the set of 6 framed ones. John Gould (1804–1881) is the most prolific publisher of ornithological subjects of all time. In 19th-century Europe, his name was as well known as Audubon’s was in North America. Unlike Audubon, whose life’s work focused on one region, Gould traveled widely and employed other artists to help create his lavish, hand-colored lithographic folios. John Gould’s love of natural history was fostered in the gardens of King George III where his father was chief gardener at Windsor Castle. Although trained as a gardener, Gould’s interests quickly evolved, and at the age of 20, he was appointed taxidermist to the Zoological Society of London. After three years, he progressed to the position of curator of birds and chief taxidermist. In 1830, newly married, Gould and his artist wife, Elizabeth Gould...

Early 20thC Watercolor and Gouache. 'Gentlemen at the Races, Point to Pointing'.
By Sir Alfred James Munnings
Located in Cotignac, FR
Early 20th century watercolour of a gentleman on horseback with other riders in the background apparently signed or titled 'Count A de Monthaus'. Signed or titled bottom left. Presented in fine period gilt frame under glass. The artist has captured a moment of pause, the gentlemen rider in his fine clothes and bowler hat regarding his surroundings as his fellow riders continue the chase behind him, possibly a 'point to point'. Monthaus has captured the stance of the standing horse as well as the movement of the other horses. He has used white to give light and definition to the costume of the rider and the background. A lovely atmospheric and dynamic watercolour very much of its period and in the spirit of equine portraiture made famous by the likes of Sir Alfred Munnings. Sir Alfred James Munnings, KCVO PRA RI (8 October 1878 – 17 July 1959) was known as one of England's finest painters of horses, and as an outspoken critic of Modernism. Engaged by Lord Beaverbrook's Canadian War...
