Lumina Daphine Terra LED Floor Lamp in Black by Tommaso Cimini
By Lumina, Tommaso Cimini
Located in Warsaw, PL
Lumina Daphine Terra LED table lamp in soft touch black by Tommaso Cimini Undisputed emblem of elegance and functionality, the Daphine represents the essence of Lumina. The idea behind the creation of the Daphine lamp is as simple as it is effective: a pivoting diffuser, an articulated arm in two segments and an electromechanical transformer on a cylindrical base between two metal caps. The Daphine first “saw the light” in a small workshop in Sedriano (Milan province) in 1975 thanks to the skilful hands of Tommaso Cimini, a mechanical engineering expert, and the machines he had retooled for the purpose. The Daphine springs from Tommaso Cimini’s design philosophy, “Lots of light, not much lamp”, which is still the essence of every product bearing the name of Lumina, the company he set up in 1980. 45 years on, the Daphine’s aesthetic and functionality are unchanged, which goes to show the validity of the original idea. Tried and tested throughout its long production history, this lamp lends itself to countless uses in public and private places, from reading desks in libraries to pianos, from jewellery display counters...

Art Deco floor lamp by Jules Cayette and Schneider
By Jules Cayette, Charles Schneider
Located in NANTES, FR
Art Deco floor lamp circa 1925. Wrought iron base by Jules Cayette. Glassware by Charles Schneider. 1 basin of 40 cm in diameter and 6 blown glass balls. In perfect condition, electrified, 3 lights. Height: 167.5 cm Base diameter: 49 cm Basin diameter: 40 cm Weight: 16 Kg Édouard Élie Jules Cayette, born on May 27, 1882 in Paris and died on January 2, 1953 in Nancy, was a French ironworker, bronze worker, cabinetmaker, sculptor and interior decorator, representative of the Art Nouveau movement, then of that of Art Deco. In 1896, he enrolled for the first time at the municipal and regional school of fine arts in Nancy. He left the school in 1899 and entered as an apprentice with Férez, a wood sculptor and carpenter from Nancy. In 1900, he re-enrolled at the Beaux-Arts in Nancy, while continuing his apprenticeship with Schwartz. He left the school for good in 1902. During this apprenticeship, he received instruction from Victor Prouvé and Eugène Vallin. His classmates were Auguste Vallin, Joseph Mougin and Pierre Mougin. In 1904, he joined Jacques Gruber as a collaborator, where he perfected his style. He modeled many compositions and made sculptures in place of the master as far as furniture was concerned. The workshop then adjoined that of Vallin, hence the latter's definite influence on Cayette's early works. In 1910, Jules Cayette set up his own business and officially began his activity on August 1st. From 1912, he exhibited regularly at the Société lorraine des amis des arts. It was at this time that he met his main patron, Saint-Just Péquart (1881-1944). He set up his first workshop on rue Collinet de La Salle in Nancy in 1913, the date of his first mention in the Meurthe-et-Moselle commercial directory. He married Marie Lucie Berche (1893-1933) on May 11, 1918. In 1919, he moved and set up his workshop at 63, rue des Jardiniers (which would be supplemented by the one on rue du Montet, currently avenue du Général Leclerc, bought from the widow Guth). The 1920s were the glory years of the workshops, which employed a dozen workers. The productions were very varied: from bronze ashtrays to light fixtures — always with Daum glassware...

Large the Giraffe Lamp by Kilzi
Located in Geneve, CH
Large The Giraffe lamp by Kilzi Dimensions: D 65 x W 65 x H 210 cm. Materials: polished stainless steel. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. These polished stainless steel tubular lamps are going to be most likely the tallest object in their room. They also display a vigilant attitude combined with the elegance giraffes and other savanna animals display. This lamp is intended to be presented in two positions, “standing” and “grassing”. Materials may vary. Please contact us. Jorge Suárez-Kilzi was born in Venezuela to immigrant parents of Spanish and Syrian descent. His collection of works is signed under his mother’s last name, Kilzi, which is also often used to describe a person who works with plaster and chalk-unconsciously leading Jorge down a path he was destined for. The name has a link to a hard childhood in movement, to an immigrant background, to Latin American and its vernacular arts, to a sense of movement and evolution. As a grown man, the sensibilities of his childhood took him all the way to Japan, where worked as an architect in the offices of Sejima+Nishizawa Associated Architects/ SANAA and Junya Ishigami. Swiss architecture, which seemed in contrast, firm and steady, called upon him on a different basis, a return to order but also a reconnection to nature. A recent trip to Mexico and the mesoamericas, felt to Jorge as forgiveness to his early history and aesthetics. Driven by years of immersion in exotic culture and architectural experience, in 2018, he made the decision to become a freelance architect and artist, going from fields of architectural visualisations to ceramics and furniture, giving special attention to drawings and decorative motives. Every piece is expressed in simple forms and delicate emotions, where fluid silhouettes accompany each other like a soul in companionship. Jorge’s recent creation is titled “Mush” Lamps...
