Percival Lafer is a contemporary Brazilian furniture maker and pioneer of the Brazilian Modernist movement. He is most famous for his chair and sofa designs, which combine low-profile hardwood structures with plush leather upholstery. “I’ve always been drawn to the motion features of furniture,” he’s said. “The engineering and design work that goes into its mechanisms is fascinating and fulfilling.” Born on April 12, 1936 in Brazil, he studied at the Mackenzie Presbyterian University College of Architecture in São Paulo. The splendid large armchair, in finely carved and gilded wood, was made in Genoa, in the Louis XV period, mid-18th century. The pentagonal back has a wavy and curvilinear profile, and is decorated with carvings with phytomorphic and rocaille elements. The armrests, slightly moved and decorated with carved leaves, end with a volute and from this fit the seat. The band under sitting is moved and decorated with rocaille elements, as well as the legs, arched, and curly feet. On the back, a repainting of the ochre tint was done. The back and seat are padded and lined in red velvet with fine ochre and grey decorations.
The type of carving accords refinement and gracefulness to the armchair. The shaped backrest, the wavy armrests and the curved legs give elegance and charm to this seat, easily inserted in any furnishing context, both marked by modern and antique taste...

A die-cast aluminium shell made up of many small, perforated and triangular faces. Chair_One is in a certain sense built like a football, i.e. with a series of flat ele- ments joined one to the other at angles to create a three-dimensional shape. All this is achieved by exploiting the potential of die-casting which is a precise technology allowing complex three-dimensional shapes to be obtained from metal (in this case aluminium). The result is therefore a chair in which the spaces prevail over the solid parts to characterise its aesthetic quality. Chair_One has now become a classic of the future.
Chairs, stools, tables and seating systems for domestic and contract use (bars and restaurants).
Chair_One: legs in polished, anodised or painted aluminium; concrete base painted transparent natural or black; base and seat in die-cast aluminium treated with sputtered fluorinated titanium and painted in polyester powder. Suitable for outdoor use (painted version). Flame-retardant. Also available cushions in fabric (Kvadrat “Steelcut Trio” or “Steelcut 2”) or in leather for indoor use and cushions in polyurethane for outdoor use.
