"RAKU RED AND WHITE", wheel formed white glaze, copper red, gold leaf, sculpture
By Andrew Cornell Robinson
Located in Toronto, Ontario
"RAKU RED AND WHITE", 2019, in wheel-formed white glaze with copper red blush, sprig, stamp, gold leaf and raku fired with kintsuji gold by artist Andrew Cornell Robinson, is one of a series of sculptural objects that include ceramic, glass and mixed media grottoes and containers. A project exploring the vessel form and notions of gratitude, plenty, poverty in material or humanity.
Robinson has led artists to explore tableware as sculptural form – "Changing attitudes and emerging social behaviors in food preparation and the social and cultural rituals of eating have lead to changes in the way tableware is made and used."
Andrew Cornell Robinson is an interdisciplinary artist working across media (ceramics, textiles, painting, prints, etc.). His work is influenced by collaborative craft communities, traditions, and the performative qualities of cultural production. The underlying ideas exploring identity, histories, rituals, and power in his work aim to create a space for intimate experiences and open narratives.
He studied ceramic sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art and the Maryland Institute College of Art where he received a BFA. He was awarded an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, where he became interested in the intersection of memory, identity, politics, and power. He has been featured in many publications including Sculpture Magazine, Huffington Post, Hyperallergic, Art Info, et al. He has participated in curatorial and research projects and recently was a participating artist in Debtfair a project in the Whitney Biennial.
Andrew has also worked on collaborations with designers such as Donna Karan’s Urban Zen project where his work in ceramics led to workshops with artisans in Haiti and the creation of a ceramic studio in Port-au-Prince. He is currently working with The Powerhouse Arts Workshop and their design team from the Pritzker-prize winning architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron in the design and development of a contemporary industrial fabrication center established to serve the working needs of artists in New York City.
He is currently a member of the faculty at Parsons School of Design and Greenwich House Pottery in New York City. His work has been presented extensively throughout the world with the Anna Kustera Gallery, David & Schweitzer Contemporary, Christopher Stout...

He then transforms these materials through various techniques and crafts honed for years through his practice of jewelry making: welding, carving, casting, meticulous fitting, plating, etc.

From Dusk To Dawn - Sculptural Geometric Abstract Metallic Wood Wall Artwork
By Hugo Urrutia
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Hugo Urrutia’s “From Dusk to Dawn” is a masterful 29-inch high by 38-inch wide sculptural wall artwork, crafted with meticulous precision using oil lacquer paint on carved Baltic birch. Part of his acclaimed “Flexible Rigids” series, this work challenges the boundaries between rigid geometry and fluid motion, transforming a structured surface into a captivating, undulating form. Urrutia’s innovative approach to sculptural abstraction and his ability to evoke natural harmony through architectural precision make this artwork ideal for collectors of modern wall sculptures, geometric art, and unique design-inspired pieces.
In “From Dusk to Dawn”, Urrutia builds a mesmerizing composition of repeating triangular modules, meticulously carved to create a dynamic wave-like effect across the surface. The artwork’s deep red gradient transitions from darker tones at the top to vibrant crimson hues at the base, suggesting a natural progression reminiscent of twilight giving way to morning light. The carved facets interact beautifully with light, producing subtle shifts in shadows, reflections, and tones that shift as the viewer changes perspective.
The repetitive geometric pattern creates both rhythm and structure, while the gentle curvature of the surface adds an organic flow, echoing Urrutia’s inspiration from natural phenomena like rippling water, wind-blown fabric, or synchronized flocks of birds. The contrast between the bold, rich hues and the natural wood accents further enhances the sculpture’s modern elegance, making it a striking centerpiece for contemporary interiors and architectural spaces.
Key Features:
Original artwork: Sculptural wall art crafted with carved Baltic birch and oil lacquer paint
Dimensions: 29 inches high by 38 inches wide; 5 inches deep
Design concept: “Flexible Rigids” series, transforming rigid geometry into flowing, harmonic forms
Visual impact: Rich red gradient with natural wood accents and dynamic triangular carvings
Display: Signed by the artist on the back; no framing required
Certificate of authenticity included with purchase
Delivery: Free local Los Angeles area delivery; affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available
Hugo Urrutia, a multidisciplinary artist and architect, explores the intersection of art, design, and technology in his sculptural works. Inspired by natural movement and architectural precision, Urrutia’s pieces evoke the beauty of harmony, rhythm, and balance. A graduate of the prestigious Architectural Association in London, Urrutia has exhibited his works worldwide, solidifying his reputation as a visionary artist who redefines the relationship between art and space.
“From Dusk to Dawn” is a stunning exploration of geometry, color, and form, seamlessly blending organic flow with architectural structure. Ideal for modern interiors, creative workspaces, or gallery walls, this one-of-a-kind sculpture transforms its environment with a dynamic energy and sophisticated elegance. Collectors seeking art that embodies innovation, movement, and timeless design will find “From Dusk to Dawn” an exceptional addition to their collection.

"History Man" Designed to stand.
James Surls (Born 1943) Texas / Colorado Artist
A modernist sculptor of delicate seeming wooden objects of intriguing designs, James Surles also does drawing and prints that feature natural and human images and forms.
He carves, whittles and stains his objects, but creating a monotone effect, rarely paints them but sometimes burns images into them. Some of his works are large, as much as nine-feet tall.
Surls earned a B.S. degree from Sam Houston University and an MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. In 1998, he moved from Splendora, Texas to Carbondale, Colorado.
In 2009, five sculptures, made of bronze and steel, were set up on Park Avenue by the New York City Parks Public Art Program. His work has been shown in major New York museums including the Whitney, Guggenheim, and Museum of Modern Art. His work is in numerous public collections.
East Texas native James Surls is among the most acclaimed Texas artists of the late twentieth century and has found great success outside the state, as well. Surls' sculptures are most inspired by nature but also reveal metaphorical and mythological content.
In a 2009 catalog for The Grace Museum in Abilene, Texas, Patterson Sims wrote that Surl's works are "studies of myths, science, and human behavior."
After graduating from Sam Houston State University and The Cranbrook Academy of Art, he taught at Southern Methodist University and later at the University of Houston and the Lawndale Art Center, Houston.
Surl's work is held in many museum collections, and he has had numerous solo exhibitions, including the Dallas Museum of Art in 1984 and The Meadows Art Museum, Dallas, in 2003.
History Man and Walking Man – Provenance
James Surls, renowned Texas Artist, was commissioned by the Friends of the LBJ National Historical Park, to create art from what is known as the Cabinet Oak that is growing in the
yard of the Texas White House. As President, Lyndon Johnson held many meetings, including meetings with cabinet members, under the sprawling live oak tree in his front yard, next to his
swimming pool. For that reason, the tree became known as the Cabinet Oak. In 2019, a huge branch of the tree broke off. The park service searched for ways to turn this
devastating event into something positive and memorable. As a result, The Friends of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park stepped forward and invited 53 artists to receive portions
of the wood and without conditions use the wood to reflect their vision of its meaning. Renowned artist James Surls used his section of the branch to create three art pieces,
including the two identified below that are being offered for sale. These works are unique examples of Surls artistry, showcasing his devotion to the LBJ legacy and to the beauty and
history of the wood itself.

Minimalist Abstract Color Field Painting in Pastel Green, Whites and Blue(C13-3)
By Ginny Fox
Located in Hudson, NY
Nature-Inspired Minimalist Abstract Color Field painting on three wood panels in shades of Light Green and Blues
Acrylic on 3 panels (2 panels are 24 x 18 x 2 inches each, center panel is 24 x 6 x 2 inches)
Overall measurement for horizontal install with 1-2 inch recommended spacing, 24" X 43" X 2" inches horizontally
Artist Ginny Fox achieves multiple flawless layers of acrylic paint, wiping it on and off with cotton cloth, to create a subtle yet distinctive woven texture on a smooth surface. The artist's work is inspired by patterns found in nature such as tree rings, rock lines, ethereal horizons, or water ripples. It appears as though a light source is originating behind the panel, glowing softly in a pale, dreamy green palette. This unique surface spreads all the way to the very edge of each panel with its delicate, cross hatched motif. The 2 inch deep sides are cleanly painted white for a seamless finish. These panels hang flush to the wall by resting on two nails on either side of the panel, and can be arranged in any number of ways, highlighting the work's sculptural element.
Artist's Statement:
My paintings merge the detailed textures and colors found in the natural world with the linear and geometric patterns visible in industrial and architectural structures. The interplay of these elements drives the work and provides a platform for constant change and narrative. By simultaneously layering and removing paint with rags instead of brushes, my hand is directly involved with the process. Each piece contains multiple panels that evoke a nuanced and evolving universe.
Ginny Fox builds up each non-representational piece with overlapping streaks of paint that frequently span two or three panels. Working with rags instead of brushes, Fox’s hand moves along parallel paths, emergent colors cascading gently towards the edges of the composition's plane. There’s something vaporous to the outer layers of the work, the interwoven strands of color offering glimpses at the painting’s earthy base and hinting at the artist’s gradual process. Having received her education from New York University in the 1970s, Fox has since exhibited throughout the United States, especially in New York City and the northeastern U.S.
