A fantastic antique Victorian mahogany and gilded twin pedestal dining table bearing the impressed mark of the renowned cabinet makers and retailers Wylie & Lochhead, and circa 1850 in date.
The oval shaped table is made from solid mahogany and has four leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion by a special winding mechanism.
It is raised on a pair of beautifully carved and gilded pedestal bases with downswept legs terminating in scroll feet and the original brass and porcelain recessed castors.

Antique Furniture by the Scottish cabinet makers Wylie & Lochhead, means the piece is going to be of superb quality and a very high level of craftsmanship. They were famous for their stunning selection of wardrobes, dining chairs and dining tables.
In 1829 Wylie & Lochhead was started by cabinetmakers Robert Wylie and William Lochhead and they quickly became very successful with with a string of workshops, showrooms and warehouses in Glasgow employing over 1700 workers. Margit Wittig has used her sculptural skills to create beautifully-crafted, well-proportioned candlesticks, which are compositions of her unique signature pearl and block shaped designs.
Each candlestick begins as hand-sculpted components which are used to create moulds in different sizes. These highly original, eye-catching candlesticks come in different sizes depending on the number of blocks.
The candlesticks are cast in bio-resin with 30% recycled components and Jesmonite mixed with pigment at the start of the process, to ensure color consistency. Some of the candlesticks are subtly finished with hand painted gold patina to reflect the shimmer of the candle. Each one is made with a solid brass drip catcher and can be cast in a variety of colors.

This is a superb antique George III inlaid flame mahogany serpentine sideboard, circa 1790 in date.
With wood banding and marquetry spandrels, the central frieze drawer flanked by deep drawers, the right side drawer with divisions for bottles. The drawers fitted with the original and beautiful ormolu lion's head ring handles.
It is raised on elegant square tapering legs on spade feet and is complete with working locks and key.
Add an elegant touch to a special place in your home with this superb antique serpentine shaped sideboard.
The botanical name for the mahogany this item is made of is Swietenia macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to CITES regulation.

A cockfight is a sport between two roosters (cocks), or more accurately gamecocks, held in a ring called a cockpit. The history of raising fowl for fighting goes back 6,000 years. The first documented use of the word gamecock, denoting use of the cock as to a “game”, a sport,pastime or entertainment, was recorded in 1646, after the term “cock of the game” used by George Wilson, in the earliest known book on the sport of cockfighting in The Commendation of Cocks and Cock Fighting in 1607. This is a highly decorative antique Victorian silver plated folding biscuit box, the base bearing the makers' mark of the renowned silversmiths Fenton Brothers of Sheffield, England, circa 1890 in date and bearing the Staniforth's Patent mark as well as the registration number 4467.
It has a beautifully shaped body sitting in a cast frame with remarkably chased branch supports and the original interior features elegant hand-pierced dividers.
It opens out into two halves and is held shut by gorgeous laurel wreath loose ring handles at the top.
This wonderful container could house anything from sweets to biscuits or trinkets.

PRESS SAMPLE RE-CONDITIONED : Handmade Shell organic modern sculptural wall sconce/ wall light in silky smooth white plaster, by artist Hannah Woodhouse in her London studio.
Used once in a photo shoot, then the wall sconce is taken back to our production unit and is re-sprayed/ fully re-conditioned and re-wired by our production team, so it is literally AS NEW. We offer at a discounted price because it has been installed once on the wall; after photographing it is taken the back into our production unit, where we sand out any blemishes that may have arisen in handling, re-spray, re-condition and re-wire - ready for shipping as good as new. Are all good opportunity to buy our wall scone at a discounted price, we have around 50 of these available every year.
Contemporary design inspired by nature and mid-century European sculpture. This wall sconce not only provides soft ambient lighting but is a beautiful wall sculpture. Uplighter with one candle bulb. IP20 (interior use) (can be converted to IP44 use). Height 15" ( 38 cm). In this listing you are purchasing a single wall sconce, opening to the right.

All our plaster wall sconces can be custom colored to a color of your choice if you supply a paint color reference (for an additional charge quoted on an individual order basis). If you do not request our color service, the lights are shipped in our trademark calm white color.
This wall sconce is wired for the US market, using UL listed components, but the light fitting is not UL listed - this can be done in the US if necessary, by the buyer. If required, we are happy to supply the name of someone in New York who can do this for USA clients.
