SORCERER'S BISCUIT is a new oil on canvas surrealist painting by Brooklyn, New York artist Tony Geiger. It measures 16x20" and is a unique artwork. Note the artist's vocabulary present here – the young girl in early 20th century clothes holding the chewed biscuit; on poles either side of her what looks like a wolf in top hat, and a queen with crown. Tony Geiger has said his paintings take you to a certain place, but you have to find your own way back. The world he creates encompasses both classical surrealism and more contemporary concerns. Conflict is usually present. These mischievous juxtapositions make statements on the human condition – either politically, physically or spiritually. Geiger wants the viewer to be challenged and amused by this mixture of the macabre and the playful.
A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, New York and a longtime NYC resident, Tony Geiger still considers himself a transplanted Californian. That's particularly true with this painting – we immediately see that everything is wrong, hands coming out of trees, a human head on a horse or dog. The inspiration for Mary Dwyer's work revolves around storytelling, historic events, a love of political cartoons and early portraiture paintings. An integral part of this work is research. Spurred by an innate curiosity, she creates political, historical and personal paintings. In the last few years Dwyer has been researching and painting the American Suffrage movement. In this research she discovered that the people working as both Suffragists and Abolitionists also started their own newspapers and published their own pamphlets. They became journalists, as no one was covering their story.
Dwyer's paintings are a celebration of both the voter’s rights activist and the visual pageantry of the Suffrage movement. The use of color in her Suffrage paintings speak to the vibrant pageantry and the visual marketing used during the movement. Sashes, button, banners, flags and ribbons were made by women and marketed for women.
The significance of free press is paramount in a free and fair society. The importance of journalist has become a theme that has continued in her present work.

Rene Lynch has had several catalogues published about her work. Her art is featured on the cover of Boulevard Magazine Spring 2018. Her paintings were recently featured in scenes with Richard Gere in the film Norman.
Her work can be found in numerous private and public collections throughout the United States, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Russia and Japan.
Rene Lynch studied painting and art history at Virginia Commonwealth University, The Business of Art, Curatorial Studies Program, New York University, and Printmaking, Manhattan Graphics Center.
Lynch has been awarded several fellowships, including; two fellowships from P.S.1 Museum of Modern Art, NYC, four fellowships from The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and two fellowships from Oberpfalzer Kunstlerhaus, Germany, and AIR Ruhpolding, Germany, also The Manhattan Graphic Center for printmaking, and the Millay Colony, NY and twice from Soaring Gardens, PA, and Palenville InterArts, NY among others.

Stephen (Istvan) Csoka was born in Gárdony, Hungary on January 2, 1897 and died in New York in 1989. He is best remembered as a painter and etcher of portraits, nudes, landscapes, genre, and horses. Csoka studied at the Budapest Royal Academy of Art and his memberships include Associate of the National Academy of Design in New York City; the Society of American Etchers in Brooklyn, NY; the Society of Brooklyn Artists; and the Hungarian Etchers Association. Csoka's exhibitions and awards include a medal at the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929; a prize at the City of Budapest Exhibit in 1930; prizes at the Society of American Etchers in 1942 and 1945; prizes at the Library of Congress in 1944 and 1946; a prize at the Society of Brooklyn Artists in 1944; a prize at the Philadelphia Watercolor Club in 1945; the Corcoran Gallery of Art in 1945; the Carnegie Institute in 1943, 1944, and 1945; the Art Institute of Chicago in 1944; the Los Angeles Museum of Art in 1945; the National Academy of Design from 1940 through 1945; one-artist shows at the Contemporary Artists in 1940, 1943, and 1945; and the Minneapolis State Fair in 1943. *Stephen continued to recieve awards and exhibit his work throughout his life. In 1997, Hofstra Museum sponsored a Retrospective/Centennial exhibition in honor of his birth. John-Herbert was born in Miami and moved to New York city when he was 3 years old. As the son of a Filipno mother and bi-racial father, his multi-cultural roots at first felt like a challenge but with time, and especially through his creative explorations, he would create his own unique world. This would immerse into his work; containing multiple points of views. Inspirations from Basquiat to Van Gogh, Monet to Dali and Matisse; John-Herbert developed a Neo-Expressionist approach infused with surrealism, figurative, and abstract renderings.
From the tender age of eight, Wright gravitated to painting as an escape expressing a rich inner world. His work heavily relies upon dark figurations amongst an urban landscape leaving the viewer space to navigate the world he creates. An analogy of the human condition; centering the female nude/mother and child as the protagonist, he tells the story of the broken seeking respite, the downcast, the other.
Wright seeks to illuminate the universe of darkness within all of us, within himself, and that darkness contrasted with fragility has always been at the epicenter of his work.
Wright has managed to create a niche for himself as a painter and street-wear designer, contributing to the role the graphic t-shirt played in disseminating New York street culture across the globe. Transferring the techniques of garment making onto his canvases, Wright’s paintings feature backdrops of multiple layers of silk-screened images, drawings and text. He has also expanded his avenues of expression, creating installations and even multi-sensory exhibitions, building even more detailed spaces to travel with him through.
Although his success has been celebrated, in many ways till recently, Wright has also kept his own story on fade. This changed last year with his highly lauded solo show “Rewind & Reflect” (at the Blue Gallery...
