Set of Sculptural Vases by Hs Studio
Located in Geneve, CH
Set of sculptural vases by HS Studio. Surreal Real Collection. Dimensions: 22 x 18 x 8cm, 25 x 18 x 9cm. Materials: Ceramic. Hannah Simpson is a ceramic artist, based in Kent, UK. With a passion for creating unique items, Hannah's work continues to challenge the line between art and design. Hannah graduated from Loughborough University in 2019 with a 1st Class Honours in Fine Art. During her time at university, Hannah opted to take part in an industrial placement year where she interned in Eindhoven, Netherlands for designer Nacho Carbonell. Whilst on this internship Hannah developed a passion for functional art work and began combining ideas from her knowledge of art and philosophy with design to create biomorphic sculptures that often resemble mystical creatures. For the past year Hannah has continued to develop her work to combine functional design with fine art. Hannah’s work is inspired by religion, myth and instinctive thoughts, with particular focus on the relationship between order and chaos. She creates sculptures that change how a space is used, allowing the viewer to remove themselves from reality and instead be surrounded by surreal objects...

Poseidon, a Metallic Blue, Petrol & Teal Green Glass Sculpture by Bethany Wood
By Bethany Wood
Located in London, GB
'Poseidon' is a unique artwork by the British artist, Bethany Wood. An equal passion for painting physically inspires how she controls and manipulates her glass. Recreating the fleeting nature of brush strokes, Wood’s molten colours traverse across the surface of her glass canvases blending in a myriad of hues. Unlike their flat painterly counterparts, these combine and merge, forming spontaneous watery and lava like abstract relief flourishes. Taking inspiration from a wide range of sources, Wood’s influences are taken directly from the world around us, elements of the inner-city sit alongside expansive landscapes. Reoccurring themes are Graffiti & Urban Culture, exploration & travel. In the artist's own words; "As a multidisciplinary artist, I have begun to merge my two artistic passions, painting and Glassmaking. I like to express myself with the fluidity of the material. The Directional arrangement of a colour palette can form the depth of an abstract Landscape. I use my own paintings as a reference whilst making in the hot shop. Each individual artwork from my series has been inspired by a specific place. Serendipity of abstraction has always been an inspiration for me; the coincidental elements which catch the eye of the viewer. The palette, composition and depth I have attained are taken from nature, with a bold but elegant swipe of my own personal, Expressionist style" Rising glass star, Wood graduated from De Montfort...

Vase Cobridge Stoneware Cathedral Blue Samantha Johnson Architectural
Located in BUNGAY, SUFFOLK
A Cobridge stoneware cylindrical Cathedral pattern vase, designed by Samantha Johnson, copyright 2000. - The striking pillars and arches create spaciousness in the design. - The different tones of blue capture the texture and coolness of the stone interiors of these magnificent centres of worship, learning, art and community. - Rare pattern illustrating medieval architecture in a contemporary context The underside bears the Cobridge Stoneware stamp and is marked S Johnson, J.S. c.o.o. and S.J. c.c.c. 2000. Measures: Height 20.7cm Diameter (top) 8.5cm Diameter (base) 9cm Cobridge Stoneware was a short-lived pottery company born out of the fascination of the head of one of the leading potteries for a process that died with its inventor early in the 20th century. Cobridge Stoneware was in business 1998–2005. It was an Associate company of Moorcroft Pottery. The consequence of the business closing in down 2005. Is that the vases are now becoming very rare and demanding premium prices on the secondary market. Hugh Edwards, owner of Moorcroft, was keen to develop the ideas of William Howson Taylor - the man behind the closely guarded secrets of Ruskin Pottery. A new company and name was needed for the new range - Moorcroft is known and recognized universally by its distinctive appearance. Cobridge, an area of The Potteries, was featured in the Industrial Landscapes that were planned to furnish some of the designs for the new range. Its skyline was dominated in earlier years by bottle kilns, now mainly demolished, and Cobridge was chosen as the new name. The Cobridge Pottery was set up in a new imposing building a couple of hundred yards from the Moorcroft pottery and the official opening was in September 1998. The building was designed with future needs in mind. Only the outer walls are load-bearing, and the inner walls are built from blocks which can, if the need arises, be knocked down and re-built in another place. All the pieces were produced and hand painted here. The designs for Cobridge Stoneware Pottery vases were designed by well known ceramic designers. Many were also designing for Moorcroft Pottery. These designers include Philip Gibson, Kerry Goodwin, Nicola Slaney and Angela Davenport. Also Anita Harris...

Large Glazed Greek Terracotta Vase
Located in Wormelow, Herefordshire
An impressive large Greek style vase, intricately crafted in terracotta and applied with a vibrant treacle glaze. Shaped like a trophy, this mid 19th century urn shares similarities with the marble vase attributed to prominent 2nd century Greek sculptor Sosibios in terms of shape and style, detailed with unique handles shaped like a swans neck. Unlike the Sosibios vase, the heart of this terracotta vase is largely plain showcasing the beautiful tone variation and lustre of the glaze. To the top, the vase is more intricate, detailed with a section of leaves and berries and stands on a socle carved with leaves to match the lower portion of the vase’s body. Thanks to its large scale and beautiful colour, this Greek style terracotta vase makes a striking statement piece placed on a pedestal or at the centre of a large sideboard...
