Isaac Pelayo is a head on crash collision between The Renaissance and Street Art.
In a household where constant turmoil and violence were more apparent than most a young Pelayo met escape and peace within the confines of himself and his own creativity. Hispanic born in the heavy beating heart of Los Angeles on the seventh day of June 1996. Pelayo was caught in the crossfires of everything that surrounded him but art served as his only guidance. After dropping out of college Pelayo turned from his hyperrealistic pencil portraits to oil painting where his passions grew more immensely.
As of today Pelayo’s work is most influenced and fueled by the crème de la crème of old master painters like Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Velazquez as well as graffiti artists such as RETNA, Shepard Fairey, and EL MAC. In 2017 his work caught the attention and landed in the firm grasp of renown rapper and collector Alvin “Westside Gunn” Worthy. Dynamic figurative composition by Bay area Figural, Abstract expressionist and notable Burning Man artist Jakob Bokulich (American, b. 1974). Jakob Bokulich (1974, Santa Cruz, CA) is a self-trained, multi-disciplinary artist known for his paintings and kinetic sculptures. His work is in the collection of the Croatian Embassy in Paris, and he was awarded an Honorarium grant in 2018 by Burning Man for his 21 foot-tall sculpture "Big Pollinator," which was years in the making and involved the work of over 100 volunteers.
The son of an auto mechanic, Bokulich began painting at age 12 after a house fire left his family homeless and he stayed temporarily with a local landscape painter. At 17 he left home for Europe - his art education was living in art squats and artist communities, and immersing himself in the museums and galleries of Europe. Drawing inspiration from living in a war zone in Croatia between 1993-1995, he exhibited in galleries in Paris, Saint-Tropez, Chamonix, and Split, Croatia.
Transitioning back to the U.S, the artist helped build artist communities in San Francisco and Oakland, being deeply involved in spaces such as Cellspace, The Artship, and The Creamery. In this phase of his practice, Bokulich explored performance and ritual, co-writing and performing in the film Hysteria by Antero Alli. This prompted his stay in LA working in film and set design. In 2015 the seasoned and well rounded artist moved to New York City to return to a studio practice, now informed by his experiences in ritual, meditation, and unconventional self exploration. Bokulich’s work reinforces modes of seeing in a world where the senses have become neglected.

The painting is inspired by traditional Ukrainian motifs and the literary works of Nikolai Gogol between 1829 – 1832, and the mystical fusion of these stories with the modern world. The green apple in the center is both a symbol of temptation and a representation of technological progress depicted by the iPhone. The devil holding the phone is taking a selfie with a Kozak he had led astray. The Kozak, beguiled by the woman reflected in the bottle of horilka (moonshine), is unaware that this encounter was orchestrated by the devil. In the foreground and background of the painting are various Ukrainian dishes and delicacies. They are the most realistic elements of the painting, suggesting that the painter wants to share his love for this food with the viewer. The painting is signed by the author and can be framed or unframed. It can decorate any corner of the room based on individual preference.

Heavy impasto painting of a seated nude woman (Joan Brown) by Honora Berg (American, 1897-1985). Bold depiction of a nude woman with dark hair. She is sitting in a dark blue chair, body slightly angled towards the viewer. The wall behind her is a deep red. Both the chair and the model are made out of many small brushstrokes of varying colors, creating a pointillist feel. Honora Berg also painted and portrait of Manuel Neri (Joan's Husband) which we acquired also from the Larry Miller Estate.
Unframed.
