French 19th Century Mahogany & Ormolu Mounted Side Table
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A very fine French 19th-early 20th century Louis XV style mahogany, tulipwood, parquetry and ormolu mounted oval gueridon side table with a Brêche Violette marble top, attributed to François Linke (1855-1946). The inset oval Brêche Violette marble top with a gilt-bronze surround, above a lozenge parquetry frieze with foliate ormolu mounts, with a drawer to one side, on cabriole legs headed by clasps and joined by an 'X'-shaped stretcher centered by a finial, on scroll sabots. Unsigned. Circa: Paris, 1900.
François Linke (1855-1946) was one of the most celebrated ébénistes of his time. Born in Pankraz, Bohemia, Linke moved to Paris in 1875 and six years later established independent ateliers at 170, rue de Faubourg St. Antoine. As was the practice among contemporaries and noteworthy predecessors, such as Alfred Beurdeley and Henry Dasson, Linke initially produced furniture derived from styles popular during the 18th century ancien régime. By 1900, his worldwide reputation as an individualistic master of high quality furniture was already established. However, with a huge display, placing his extravagant pieces in room settings and winning the Médaille d'Or for his Grand Bureau, Linke's participation in the Paris 1900 exhibition...

Side Table Pierre Chareau
By Pierre Chareau
Located in CA, CA
Stunning table after Pierre Chareau originally designed for the Club-House of the Beauvallon Golf Hôtel in 1928 .
The table has a wooden top, supported by a riveted steel base.
Completed in 1928, the Club-House of the Beauvallon Golf Hôtel represented the first major commission for Pierre Chareau in collaboration with the Dutch architect Bernard Bijvoet. The white-painted cement-rendered club-house was an asymmetric structure executed in the prevailing Modernist style, and comprised of a kitchen, a bar-dining area, and an open terrace. With the exception of fully-upholstered seating that was reserved for use in the interior, the majority of furnishings expressed Chareau's creative interest in the use of steel and iron for furniture manufacture. These included a variety of occasional tables and iron-framed chairs with woven cane seats, designed for use on the open terrace. This commission was amongst the first to illustrate the intensive working relationship between Pierre Chareau and the metal-worker with whom he exclusively collaborated, Louis Dalbet.
In good original condition, some shrinkage to the circular top.
Literature: p.92 Pierre Chareau Designer and Architect published by Taschen
Provenance: from the collection of Marion Lambert...

"Ping I" is a polished aluminum holder or catchall, designed by Giuseppe Chigiotti and manufactured by Driade.
Available in quick ship.

DIMENSIONS:
Ø 8.8", H. 19.6"
In the past houses used to be full of many helpful and small objects, for putting ashes rather than for sewing, for serving purposes rather than for display: they punctuated dwelling places. Giuseppe Chigiotti, by designing “Ping”, thinks back to those times now passed and creates a small serving furniture item, designed in two versions: "Ping I", featuring the function of generic holder or catchall, and "Ping II...
