Pacific Heights, Pine Street

Family Home by Louisa G Roeder, LLC in San Francisco, CA

My clients are newlyweds, who both love music, books and chess. In our first meeting, they laid out three, clear design requirements (very helpful for me!). They requested: 1. Everything be, above all else, comfortable and functional 2. Prime real estate to display and access the guitars 3. A table for playing chess We decided to spotlight the game table and used the classic San Franciscan bay window as a chess nook. The nook is flooded with light and creates beautiful shadows that dance on the chessboard. The angled bay windows also served as the design inspiration for the angular, wooden chairs we placed there. On the opposite end of the room is the gorgeous, historic, marble fireplace. We knew it would be the perfect place to cozy up with a book, so that is one of the two distinct seating areas in the room. We tried to create as much inviting seating as possible - for the loving of music, books, chess, and entertaining. I think we did!
