“Pastures Green” is a meditation in movement and cool luminosity, where shifting mists of violet and blue dance across a green expanse. The brushwork is confident but dreamlike, guiding the eye gently through each mark while holding onto a sense of organic spontaneity. At the horizon, a solitary green form—tree or silhouette—stretches upward through the dusky sky, anchoring the painting’s composition with elegant contrast.
The sky is a study in softness and drama: airy whites roll into rich purples, layered with shadow tones that add gravitas to the otherwise delicate textures. These clouds don’t just sit in the sky—they drift and press, like something remembered rather than simply observed. Underneath, the grassy expanse is anything but static. Flecks of colour—muted ochres, dusky blues, pale lavender—flicker through the greens like glints of motion caught in time.
This piece hums with energy just below its surface. It's pastoral but never passive, holding the tension between quietude and motion. “Pastures Green” doesn’t just represent a place—it holds the feeling of air moving, of land breathing. It invites stillness, but never demands it.
Artist Bio:
Alison Johnson lives in Warwickshire and works from her Studio based at Fargo, Coventry. Alison’s work is driven by the desire to display atmosphere and emotion of a place. Through art she expresses feelings that are often inexpressible through words. Her interest in nature and non materialistic beauty has been a constant source of passion since childhood, be it relationships between people, the struggles of life and the ever changing but constant landscape around. Fueled by a previous career in nursing, Alison aims to combine these emotions. Since studying art Alison has exhibited across the UK including Brighton, London, Chester, Wales, Yorkshire, and various Galleries in the Midlands. Her work has also reached international scale with work hanging in Italy, America, France, and the Middle East. She has completed various commissions with clients such as the Prince of Saudi Arabia and The Waldorf Hotel London. Inspiration is driven from travel, feeling and seeing wild and raw coastlines, to bleak and smoldering moors. Music and emotion are also translated through a visionary vehicle.
