About the Item
“HOYSALA CEREMONIAL DECORATIONS.” 60X60 CM. ACRYLIC, CANVAS.
Series “The Language and Knowledge of Ancient Aesthetics.”
The Hoysala Kingdom—an illustrious dynasty that flourished in Karnataka, India, from the 10th to the 14th century—was a great patron of art and architecture. The rulers of Hoysala left behind a legacy of exquisite temples, now recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The art of this era is distinguished by its intricate details, refined reliefs, and profound symbolism. Temple bas-reliefs, similar to the one depicted in my painting, adorned sacred walls, narrating cosmic order, mythological stories, and the divine presence woven into each ornament.
The adorned elephant is a traditional motif in Hoysala temple art, symbolizing strength, stability, and sacred wisdom. Its massive yet graceful form, enveloped in rhythmic patterns, evokes a sense of grandeur and divine harmony. Every detail speaks the ancient language of stone and time.
This painting serves as my artistic bridge between the past and the present—an attempt to reinterpret sacred aesthetics and integrate them into contemporary art. Just like these temple reliefs, true art transcends centuries, preserving its grandeur and meaning.

Ukrainian artist working under the pseudonym AreiRa. Born in 1988 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Graduated from the Kharkiv Academic Art Lyceum and studied Interior Design at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Since 2023, she has been actively engaged in painting, working primarily with acrylic and watercolor. Her artistic practice combines figurative and mythological imagery, exploring themes of inner transformation, spiritual resilience, and the search for harmony. She draws inspiration from sacred symbolism, architectural heritage, and the cultural codes of ancient civilizations, creating compositions rich in subtle metaphors and emotional depth. For AreiRa, painting is a form of meditative practice, where the material and the symbolic intertwine to open new inner dimensions. Her works have been exhibited in Ukraine and abroad. The artist’s practice evolves through a dialogue with philosophy and the visual language of global cultural heritage. Her works are aesthetic and spiritual focal points that harmonize space and open an inner silence.

STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood.
His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city.
Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words.
He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism.

"Inspired by the age-old Madhubani style, these paintings celebrate the beauty within the beasts. Elephants are revered animals in the Indian sub-continent and symbolize lord “Gajendra”! To ascertain justice to the inspiration, every element in the painting is worked upon significantly- the tree denotes long life, the flowers stand for happiness, and the elephant denotes power. Embellished by detailed motifs, the composition undoubtedly spurs a moment of joy in the eyes. The captivating intricacies of the saddle cloth tied with heavy jewelry...
