About the Item
Bedfellows refers to partnerships and celebrates relationships. This piece is subtle and beautiful. The pale, purple paint accentuates the carved texture. The piece is framed in whitewashed maple and hangs on the wall with two D-rings. The concave surface gently bellows inward as if an unseen force is pushing inward. The texture was carved using a dremel on plexiglass, then I cast hydrocal plaster to create the texture. This piece would be a perfect addition to any room, especially with raking light from a window.
Ben Watkins was born in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1977. He holds a BFA from Murray State University and a MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, both degrees in furniture design. He current lives and works in Lincoln, Rhode Island. He has been exhibited nationally and is in both public and private collections.
